THE APO HIKING SOCIETY What is the #PHNO Chat Room? The chat session with the Apo Hiking Socieyt will be held at #PHNO Chat Room (#phno) at the Talk City Network. You enter #PHNO Chat Room by typing /join #phno. Questions to the Apo can be sent by typing: /msg #Apo <your question here> and hitting the ENTER key. You will not receive an answer back in the same manner. Your message is received by Question Moderators. If your question is selected, it is sent to the PHNO Chat Room so that the Apo can answer your question where you and the rest of the audience can see it. Not all questions maybe selected. The Question Moderators select questions on a first-come, first served basis, relevance and topic of interest. They will start accepting questions from the audience as early as half hour prior to the actual start of the chat session. The #PHNO Chat room is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may wish to familiarize yourself in the use of the chat room now by entering the room now and chatting with anybody that you may find there.. What software do you need to enter the Chat Room? There are three sofware you can use to join the #PHNO Chat Room: 1. The easiest way is through your Java-capable browser (such as Netscape or Internet Explorer version 3.0 or higher). You can easily enter the Auditorium using the EZTalk program (EZTalk Pro, EZTalk Lite, or EZWeb). You do not have to download and install this program as it is automatically downloaded and activated in your computer by your web-browser (provided you have the Java option enabled). To enter #PHNO Chat Room using your browser, click here. 2. The most efficient way is through an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) software. If you do not have an IRC software, you can download a free copy of the Pirch98 software for TalkCity by clicking on this site. Other IRC software for Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and NT users are the following: mIRC, The Palace, TurboIRC, Internet TeleCafe. For Macintosh users, try any of the following: IRCle, MacIRC, Snak, Global IRC-d. After installing the software, you will add the Network/Server: "chat.talkcity.com", Port: 6667 and you will enter the chat room by typing the command: /join #PHNO 3. The most entertaining way is through the use of the Microsoft Chat software, where you can assign cartoon characters to the peole in the chat room.
