(PinoyGlobal) PRESS RELEASE - Carmencita Quesada Fulgado of Jamaica Estates, New York, an accomplished educator, community stalwart and distinguished leader of community projects, is unanimously selected as one of the 2008 Twenty Outstanding Filipinos Abroad (TOFA) by the TOFA Panel Board of Judges headed by Nonoy & Aida Mendoza of the FILIPINO IMAGE MAGAZINE and the PINOY GLOBAL ONLINE NEWS, and the ROXANNE ANDREA MENDOZA (RAM) MEMORIAL FOUNDATION.

The TOFA project was initiated in 1990 and have been commended by the governments of the United States, Canada and the Philippines.

The 3-day 14th annual event starts on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 with an informal get -together for the 2008 awardees and their special guests. Followed by on Friday, Sept. 12 with a VIP Luncheon at the hotel. At night is at the Philippine Embassy. The following day, Saturday morning, Sept. 13, 2008, a VIP photo Opps at various histroric spots and a Dim Sum lunch. At night is the formal gala Banquet and Ball Award Ceremony; and the traditional Filipino breakfast immediately after the ball.

All 2008 TOFA Awardees are Special Guests of Honor to all the activities. Guests wishing to attend any functions are asked to donate entrance fee. Net proceeds to all the TOFA functions are donated to charitable Filipino organizations.

Dr. Carmencita Quesada Fulgado, called Menchee by friends, is "an energetic leader , team player, able to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines." Menchee and her husband, Ding, of 40 years, met when Ding was a Surgical Resident in NJ while she was then a Ph.D. candidate in NYU.
