MANILA, JULY 4, 2007
(STAR) C‘EST CEBU By Honey Jarque Loop - Landco Pacific Corporation, a multi-product real estate development firm that was founded in 1990 by Alfred Xerez-Burgos Jr., recently launched in Cebu its partnership venture with Genvi Development, represented by landowners Augusto and Margarita Villalon.

Overly impressed with their Cebu presentation, we did not expect that it could be any better. However, a visit to a few fully developed projects in Batangas and Calatagan far exceeded our expectations.

Upon our arrival in Manila, we were met by Kay Alcantara, corporate communications head, who graciously became our tour guide for the duration of our stay. Lunch at a much-talked-about restaurant, Antonio’s in Tagaytay, with Alfred Xerez Burgos III, SVP and chief marketing officer, proved to be an exhilarating gourmet experience.

Over coffee, our host, with much enthusiasm, shared some insights into their developments and forthcoming projects. With much anticipation and cameras on hand, my travel companion Mayen Tan and I were more than ready for the boundless leisure experience that awaited us.

Day One

Leisure Farms, situated in Lemery, Batangas, a self-sustaining agricultural community, is ideal for farm-loving city dwellers and farmers at heart. Weekends may be spent engaging in both refreshing and productive activities while enjoying the beauty of the surroundings. There is an agro-tourism park, which includes a host of organic and hybrid vegetables, a coffee farm and fruit orchard, a fishpond and a bee farm, a flower farm, and hydroponics. Leisure Farms incorporates residential resort features and amenities with high-value modern farming.

Peninsula de Punta Fuego sits serenely on an 88-hectare flame-shaped neck of land. It is an exclusive world-class seaside residential community along the coast of Nasugbu, Batangas, and is home to a rich assortment of natural features, such as white-sand beaches, natural rock formations and underwater caves that are excellent for diving and snorkeling.

Dining at the property’s restaurant was yet another fabulous culinary experience. Spanish executive chef Mikel Arriet Arruiz masterfully prepared a five-course meal that more than satisfied our palate. To end the day’s activities, we were invited to try the spa, which proved to be a perfect culmination to a truly memorable evening.

Day Two

“Let’s try a little adventure and take the speedboat to Terrazas, Punta Fuego’s newest enclave,” Kay enthused. We did! The 15-minute leisure ride was simply awesome, with expansive views of the pure shores and vivid mountain terrain.

Terrazas is a sprawling 61-hectare ultra-exclusive residential development that has carved out communities of utmost privacy and exclusivity. On the eastern side of the mountain range is The Peak, which boasts outstanding vistas of mountains and valleys. It is filled with open spaces spilling into the natural environment.

The Ridge, perched in a secluded portion at one of the highest points of the community, promises a whole new level of resort splendor with a tropical Asian-themed architecture.

Amara en Terrazas, an exclusive residential resort condominium development, is the piece de resistance of the property’s residential offerings. The enclave exudes the look and feel of an Asian-Mediterranean sanctuary poised atop a cliff that offers a unique and unobtrusive view of the pristine waters of the South China Sea and nearby communities.

And we thought we had seen them all. No siree! Off we went to Playa Calatagan in Batangas. Proudly, this property is the country’s first tourism estate designed around a beach community. The waters surrounding this paradise offer a bounty of seabound activities including snorkeling, or simply puttering around in a pleasure boat.

Our last stop was Ponderosa Leisure Farms located in Silang, Cavite. The 53-hectare rustic Mexican-Spanish village on rolling terrain is Landco’s premier tropical garden community where flowers abound in all colors. Ponderosa is truly a rare private domain.

It is hard to believe that all these idyllic destinations can be so easily reached from Manila, putting paradise within the grasp of the traveler who is prepared to experience an atmosphere of refinement and luxury at its best.

Landco remains in the forefront of real estate development through its constant and endless pursuit of excellence and customer satisfaction. They have the widest selection of leisure offerings ranging from seaside, mountain and leisure farming, to plantation resort developments.
