2 GRAND CELEBRATIONS FOR THE LUNAR YEAR
MANILA, February 27, 2006 (STAR) C‘EST CEBU By Honey Jarque Loop - As time-honored tradition dictates, two of Cebu’s most popular convention and business hotels, the Cebu Marriott Hotel and Cebu Waterfront Hotel, welcomed the new lunar year, better known as the Chinese New Year, with the lion’s eye dotting ceremony followed by a lion and dragon dance brought to life by members of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines. The performers paraded around the premises of both properties to spread good fortune and good luck.
The Marriott Hotel had as guests of honor Cebu Holdings senior division manager for corporate communications Ver dela Cerna. He was assisted by finance director Nelson Purisima, reservations manager Sybil Estudillo, and account executive Rowena Sainz.
Invitees were treated to morning tea and a delectable selection of dim sum at the Garden Café.
Meanwhile, the Cebu Waterfront Hotel ushered in the celebration with a lavish buffet dinner at the newly renovated Uno Restaurant. Debonair Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama and party planner and a friend to all Teresin Mendezona executed the ceremonial ritual at the majestic lobby of the hotel.
Chef Dietmar Dietrich and Chinese chefs Lim and Low meticulously and masterfully prepared the sumptuous gourmet experience with admirable hands-on general manager Marco Protacio overseeing the entire preparations from start to finish.

Fernando Zobel de Ayala, chairman of Ayala Land, recently played host at a cocktail reception at the Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Hotel to launch the island’s premier seaside residential development, Amara.
Derived from the Spanish word "amarar," which refers to the mooring ropes used to anchor ships at port, Amara connotes a home where a family will find safe harbor.
A joint project of Cebu Holdings Inc. and Coastal Highpoint Ventures Inc., Amara sits on a 46-hectare property located at Catarman, Liloan, approximately 18 kilometers from the city.
The area is envisioned to be a community-by-the-water neighborhood with a master-planned residential haven complete with amenities assuring the value appreciation that is so much a magical Ayala trademark.
