CEBU,  September 30
, 2004 (STAR) CĎEST CEBU By Honey Jarque Loop - The annual Daghang Salamat appreciation dinner of Philippine Airlines is without a doubt a much-awaited affair for its loyal and supportive patrons, as well as for members of the travel industry of Cebu and its neighboring islands.

As guests, all dressed in black or white, made their way through the red carpet leading to the grand ballroom of the Cebu Marriott Hotel, they were warmly welcomed by the airlines executive vice president Rolly Estabillo and Celso Dapo, assistant vice president for the Visayas sales and services who is always ready to extend a helping hand, together with his efficient team of sales and services manager SM office Gemma Karganilla, senior account officer Mari Jo Araneta and staff assistant Cid Limjenco.

Shortly after the dinner buffet prepared by the hotelís talented chef Thomas Hines, who outdid himself again with a delicious spread of the propertyís signature dishes, singer Gino Padilla opened the show, followed by the talented Raymond Lauchengco who rendered Broadway musical classics.

In between performances, a series of brief speeches by PALís newly appointed president Jaime Bautista, country manager Mila Revilla and executive vice president Henry So Uy envisioned a very bright and promising future for the airline.

Earlier in the week, a select group of Cebu media was invited to Manila to experience the latest in in-flight cuisine by its recently appointed executive chef, Scottish-born Australian Ian Mckenzie. The new menus are anchored on the exceptional culinary talent of Mckenzie and evoke the rich ethnic palates of the islands but with a modern twist. Indeed, we were not disappointed.

The good-looking TV personality Hans Montenegro announced the top producers. As expected, Marget Villarica of Destination Specialists and Margaret Ang of Grand Holidays led the list of top awardees. Andrew Te of Global Link, Allan Carvajal of Travelways, Sheila Colmenares of Leisure, Akihito Takahashi of UHI Travel and Marlon Pastrana and Sheila Uy of Fortune Travel received the silver plaques, while Paquito and Zenaida Chua of Worldwide Travel and Nelson and Angelita Dy of Grand Hope went home with bronze citations. The high-light of the evening was the powerful performance by Cebuís very own Vina Morales, who simply brought the house down. What a terrific show, what an enjoyable evening!
