The Philippine Graphic, as a special tribute to the late Nick Joaquin--journalist, playwright, fictionist, poet, National Artist for Literature, and Corporate Editor in Chief of the magazine-- is re-issuing Joaquin's last novel, Bat Lake, in the Graphic over four installments, starting with the current May 10, 2004 issue (Vol. 14, No. 48).

Bat Lake accompanies the issue's main coverage of the passing of the National Artist last April 29, 2004, a few days before his 87th birthday.

Lead columnist and friend of Joaquin Adrian E. Cristobal contributed a piece titled "Of Nick Joaquin." Noted Filipino writer and critic Bien Lumbera will contribute an article in the subsequent issue (Vol. 14, No.49), titled "Saying Goodbye to Nick."

The novel, first published in the Graphic in late 2002-2003, comes with its original illustrations by Jomar Soriano. Joaquin fans and literature lovers shouldn't miss these issues of special collector's value.

The Philippine Graphic is distributed at National Book Store, leading bookstores and magazine news stands, as well as convenience stores and supermarkets in Metro Manila and nationwide.
