MANILA, APRIL 21, 2012 (ABS-CBN) Given his political ambitions, Manny Pacquiao is unlikely to stay in boxing up to the age of 39.

His promoter, Bob Arum, said Pacquiao will fight 3 more times following the Timothy Bradley bout on June 9.

After that, Arum said, the Filipino superstar will retire.

"Pacquiao's going to turn what, 34? Manny Pacquiao told me he will only fight Tim Bradley and then three more times after that. I believe Manny on this. He will not be fighting at the age that Juan Manuel [Marquez] is fighting now,” he said in Examiner.

Arum said the boxer’s political ambition plays a big factor in Pacquiao’s retirement plan.

“When he becomes governor of Sarangani Province, Manny will have more daily responsibilities than he does as a congressman now… That executive position will be a lot more work for Manny than what he faces now," said the Top Rank CEO.

Among remaining fights eyed for Pacquiao are the fourth face off against the 39-year-old Marquez and the much awaited super fight against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Manny will fight again in November and then twice next year,” said Arum. “That's it, end of story.”

Likewise, boxers such as Dereck Chisora that engaged in a press conference brawl contributes to boxing's bad image.

It is good for boxing to have a prizefight between guys with good character such as Bradley and Pacquiao. They will bring attention to what is important the boxing match. Not pre-fight brawls and silly name calling. They are professionals that are not going to engage in any nonsense.

They are Two of the Best Pound for Pound Boxers in the World

However, Bradley vs Pacquiao will be a competitive fight. Pacquiao is arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the world. And the Ring Magazine ranks Bradley as the number eight pound for pound fighter in the world. They are also both in or near their primes.

Timothy Bradley is a Live Underdog

It has been a long time since Pacquiao fought a young fighter is in his prime. Juan Manuel Marquez gave a good performance in his last fight against Pacquiao. But, Pacquiao's fights against Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley and Joshua Clottey were not competitive fights.

Bradley is the younger boxer at 28 years old. His hand speed and counterpunching skills could give Pacquiao problems. Besides, Bradley said that he learned from the Marquez-Pacquiao fight to take advantage of Pacquiao's problems dealing with counterpunching. He is also a smart fighter that knows how to make adjustments. So Pacquiao will need to bring his "A" game on June 9th.

MANILA, Philippines – Still working to get back his conditioning, boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao was caught catching his breath during his first day of training in the City of Pines.

Pacquiao, who still has over seven weeks to prepare for the Timothy Bradley fight, did several laps of jogging around Baguio City’s Burnham Park.

After the run, he spent several rounds of shadow boxing and abdominal exercises.

Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao’s close friend and co-trainer, admitted that the boxing champion still has to regain his fighting form after a five-month rest from boxing.

Fernandez is confident Pacquiao will be back in shape in just a few week’s time.

He said Baguio City’s thin air will help build up Pacquiao’s stamina.

As usual, fans mobbed their favorite boxer in Burham Park.

Coffee vendor, Carlito Ruasol, said he enjoys big sales whenever Pacquiao jogs in Baguio.

"Mas lalong okay 'pag nandito si Manny Pacquiao dahil maraming bumibili ng kape sa akin," he said.

The Filipino champion is scheduled to defend his WBO welterweight title in a high-risk, low-reward fight against the younger Bradley.

Pacquiao said his newfound motivation will help him prepare against the dangerous and undefeated American boxer.

The fighting congressman of Sarangani province said speed will again be his key in winning the bout.

Pacquiao added that they will also implement a new strategy to address Bradley’s head butts.

He said coach Freddie Roach will bring in two sparring partners, who will mimic Bradley’s moves.

"Dito, dalawa ata ‘yung ka-sparring ko. Si Freddie Roach naman ang nagdala ng ka-sparring. Sa LA pa galing,” said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, quoted a Bible verse in reaction to critics who bashed his decision to join the PDP-Laban party of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

"Sabi nga in Matthew 7 verse 26, it says, ‘But everyone who hears these words of mine, and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man, which built his house upon sand.’ So, hayaan natin sila," he said. -- With reports from Rene Casibang and Edz Fernandez, ABS-CBN News
