PACQUIAO'S HEART BEATING FASTER
MANILA, FEBRUARY 25, 2008 (STAR) By Abac Cordero - Manny Pacquiao can’t wait to mix it up with Juan Manuel Marquez.
“My heart is beating faster as the fight nears,” said Pacquiao in anticipation of his March 15 battle with the WBC super-featherweight champion from Mexico.
The fight is set at the 12,000-seat Events Center of Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
“But to those who know me, it’s not because I’m scared. I’m so excited that’s why my heart is beating faster,” he wrote in his column being posted at philboxing.com.
The Filipino icon writing a regular column is his way of keeping his millions of fans from around the world posted on the latest regarding his training in Los Angeles.
“I am really excited in this rematch with Marquez. I know he is going to be 100 percent coming into this fight as I am also giving everything in training,” he added.
“Pareho po kami nag-ensayo ng matindi at sa tingin ko, magkakatalo na lamang kami sa strategy at sa pabilisan ng diskarte sa itaas ng ring.”
Pacquiao said he expects Marquez to come in at a hundred percent “prepared and ready to defend his title” before an expected sell-out crowd barely three weeks from now.
“But I am also hungry to settle our Unfinished Business, once and for all. So far, everything is under control, everyone is happy in my team and I am in my best shape.
“I am also reaching my peak at the right time so I expect to give everyone a good show on March 15,” he said, adding that sparring is in high gear in LA.
Pacquiao said he did 10 rounds each last Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and will do a dozen rounds this coming week against four or five sparring partners.
