MICROSOFT  JOINS  SEAG  AS  BLUE-CHIP  BACKER

MANILA, August 23, 2005
(STAR) The Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee or Philsoc has found another blue-chip sponsor in Microsoft.

Philsoc marketing services head Rico Meneses made the announcement yesterday after the world-leading software company agreed to join the SEA Games bandwagon.

As sponsor, Microsoft will provide organizers 500 copies of a software that will serve as the operating system of the Nov. 27 to Dec. 5 event where 441 gold medals will be disputed in 41 sports.

It will also improve the information management of the Games and at the same time speed up the results management. On top of this, Microsoft is doling out "some" cash probably worth P5 million.

"While there are those opting for the operational sponsorships rather than the traditional cash component, others are giving both," said Meneses, who presided over a media briefing at the Philsoc headquarters inside the Philippine International Convention Center.

Also joining the growing list of SEA Games sponsors are Philips which will provide six giant plasma televisions for the use of the international press center, the media center and the overall nerve center of the SEA Games. This sponsorship amounts to P6 million.

Ison Information Systems will also cough up at least P10 million for the 40 personal computers and electronic kiosks that will provide digital information through your fingertips. Abac Cordero
