RECONNECTED. TALKED FOR HOURS

More details have emerged on the reconciliation of singer Zsa Zsa Padilla and architect Conrad Onglao.

In an article published on Sunday, Philippine Daily Inquirer's lifestyle editor Thelma Sioson San Juan reported that the reconciliation happened after Padilla and Onglao unexpectedly crossed paths at a Makati mall.

According to the article, the two decided to talk for hours -- something they were not able to do five months ago when they broke up.

San Juan added that it was after their long conversation that Padilla and Onglao decided to give their relationship another chance, but with more privacy this time around.

“We know that privacy is the luxury we want to enjoy,” Onglao told San Juan.

Padilla and Onglao were a couple for more than two years before splitting up.

Prior to Onglao, Padilla was the long-time partner of the late comedian Dolphy.

Onglao, on the other hand, was previously married to interior designer Ivy Almario, with whom he has two sons.

They were divorced in the United States and obtained legal separation, and church annulment in the Philippines.
It was Karylle, the daughter of Padilla, who told reporters in May that her mother and Onglao decided to call it quits.

In a statement released weeks after the news broke, Onglao said that he loves and respects Padilla, and expressed hopes for a reconciliation. He went on to say that Padilla is the "best thing" that has ever happened to him.

MANILA - Zsa Zsa Padilla and Conrad Onglao are back together.

Five months after calling off their engagement, the two have reconciled, entertainment editor Ricky Lo wrote in his column in the Philippine Star published Wednesday.

Padilla, as quoted by Lo, refused to reveal other details, explaining that she prefers to keep things "private."
She added that she wants her and Onglao's second chance at their relationship to last "forever."

Karylle, the daughter of Padilla, told reporters in May that her mother and Onglao decided to call it quits. Lo, in a previous report, attempted to shed light on the break up and learned that it may have been caused by Onglao's attitude towards celebrities and showbiz in general.

One of Lo's sources claimed that Padilla might have gotten "fed up" with Onglao's "hurtful" words aimed at those working at the entertainment industry. The source added that Padilla might have been surprised about Onglao's attitude given how "gentle" Dolphy was.

In a statement released weeks after the news broke, Onglao said that he loves and respects Padilla, and expressed hopes for a reconciliation. He went on to say that Padilla is the "best thing" that has ever happened to him.

At the time, Padilla said that she was already in the process of "healing," with the support of her family and friends.

Nora Aunor shines in ‘Kabisera’ posted December 27, 2016 at 05:40 pm by Isah V. RedT

PRIMERA ACTRIZ. Superstar Nora Aunor’s performance in “Kabisera” compensates the film’s amateurism direction and second rate screenplay

here is no doubt that Nora Aunor is the star of Kabisera, an entry to the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) ongoing until the second of January next year.

Kabisera is inspired by true events in a family who fell victim to what is now known as EJK or extra judicial killings.

Aunor plays Mercy, wife of Ka Tunying (Ricky Davao), a barangay captain, executed summarily by policemen in a small town in a Southern Tagalog province, after being implicated in a bank robbery along with his son Andy (JC de Vera) who eventually was also killed by guys riding in tandem while on his way to his girlfriend’s house.

Mercy, with the help of a human rights lawyer (played by Victor Neri), pursues legal means to clear the names of her husband and son.

Despite the fuzzy storyline, loosely woven plot, tentative direction, terrible musical scoring, and unintelligible editing, Aunor’s performance shines as the best element of this sophomoric work.

The superstar proves she is the country’s greatest actor – never mind if the material is second rate – and she strengthens the film’s weaknesses with her bravura performance.

I won’t discuss the shortcomings of the director and writers in crafting this film as I don’t want to sound like a professor hectoring students on their projects. But the film needs a major overhaul in so many aspects – screenplay in particular and editing specifically. It also needs a major redraft of its characterology as well as plot development.

I know the guys behind this movie will justify that they did a film outside of the conventional cinema, but to make a film interesting and to move the audience and allow empathy for the characters, the narrative must be compelling enough to keep the audience at the edge of their seats.

Aunor drew several applauses from the audience in her performance, but that doesn’t make the film better.

Directors Arturo San Agustin and Real Florida tried their best to make Kabisera look spunky, but hampered by lackluster editing and unimpressive cinematography. While it has the advantage of competent performers – Ricky Davao, JC de Vera, and Jason Abalos – among the cast, but they failed to tighten the screenplay to make their presence more memorable than just giving them minutes for some melodramatic pauses.

And Mercy’s move to sit at the dining table’s kabisera, which could have been a scene to mark a significant plot development, gets lost in the melodrama as she exhorts his children to be cooperative in her pursuit of justice.

Team Yey! leads in reminding kids that Christmas is more than just the season of gift giving in the Christmas campaign, “Happy Ang Pasko, Basta Sama-Sama Tayo” of ABS-CBN TVplus’ Yey!.

The video, seen on the all-day children’s channel on digital TV, features kids of all ages sharing what Christmas means for them based on their experiences.

Some of the kids expressed that Christmas is all about love for the family. AJ, who hosts the Team Yey! Segment, “Galaw Go!,” said that Christmas time is a season when his whole family is complete.

Meanwhile, Raven, who hosts storytelling sessions every Friday, together with other Team Yey members – Sofia and Alyssa – echo AJ’s sentiment. All kids mentioned that Christmas turns into one special occasion when family reunions happen during the holidays.

Other children also reminisced their best Christmas memories such as caroling, baking cookies, and seeing streets turn festive because of the Christmas lanterns.

The Team Yey! squad reminds kids that Christmas is more than just a season of gift giving

“Yey!’s Christmas campaign affirms the belief that Filipino children don’t view Christmas purely as a season of gift giving and grand celebrations. Love for family remains as a core value that children cherish and I am glad that this was manifested in their heartfelt answers,” Yey! channel Head Danie Sedilla-Cruz said.

She also remarked that the Christmas campaign aims to make Filipino children realize that time spent with family makes Christmas more meaningful.

“A simple Christmas can also be happy and memorable. We want kids to always remember that,” Sedilla-Cruz added.

For the holidays, kids can enjoy watching value-laden and action-packed adventures in Superbook Re-imagine Season 2, 6 a.m. every weekend . Fun movies like Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs 2 (Dec. 31) will be shown on Kidzine, Yey’s weekend movie block.

Vilma Santos backs Angel Locsin’s decision posted November 15, 2015 at 05:45 pm by Joseph Peter R. Gonzales

Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto supports Angel Locsin’s decision not to do the latest big screen installation of Darna

“The biggest factor there is her health,” she avers. “As everyone knows, we’re doing a film together and before we flew to Europe to shoot some of the integral scenes, she had an attack on her spine. Luis (Manzano) informed me about it a day before my departure. He told me Angel couldn’t stand up.

“An ambulance was called and she was rushed to the hospital. Yes, that’s how serious it was then. Even after we returned to the country and resumed our shoot, her legs still hurt. We always talk about her condition during lull breaks and this is where she expressed her disappointment and frustration of passing on the Darna movie she was supposed to do under Star Cinema.”

Vilma Santos For the superstar-politician, Angel should prioritize her health among other things.

“That’s number one on the list. She asked for advice and I told her not to force herself or be under pressure to go on with the project given her condition. She’s truly sad because she loves the Darna part and it’s her signature role but she can’t risk her health either. As the superheroine, there are flying scenes that would require her to be hung on cranes plus action routines which are dangerous considering her present physical state.”

Vilma, who also played the iconic Filipina super hero on screen for four times believes that Angel will always be known as Darna no matter what.

“Of course!” she states. “She will always be in the illustrious list of actresses who have successfully portrayed Darna over the years. She need not prove anything. Besides, not being able to do the remake is not the be-all and end-all of her acting career, right?”

The Star for all Seasons points out that Angel can instead do more meaningful projects.

“I mean, with her age and maturity she can top-bill more timely and relevant offerings. For one, she’s a very good actress. Although I understand her disappointment since she really prepared for Darna. Apart from the physical preparation like dieting, the project was really conceptualized for her.”

Vilma’s concern is not only career-wise but has something to do as well with Angel’s future with Luis.

“I want them to have a baby right away once they get married that’s why I told her to be careful with her health, to which she agreed. I treat Angel as family so her welfare is essential to me.”

Speaking of a grandchild, is she really prepared to be a grandmother in the near future?

“Oh yes! And I want to be called Momsie!” ends Ate Vi.

Superstar Nora Aunor and Bembol Roco are together in the new GMA prime time show Little Nanay. Some quarters wonder if there was a point when they got romantically linked in the past.

Superstar Nora Aunor and Bembol Roco

“There’s nothing like that between me and Guy. We worked together in unforgettable classics like Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos, ‘Merika, Minsan, May Isang Ina and Thy Womb. Never in those times, especially during our younger years, when a romantic angle sparked between us. We treat each other as siblings. Period!” he says.

According to the highly competent actor, he is always Nora’s shoulder-to-cry-on.

“That’s right! Whenever she’s got a problem, she will turn to me for advice then. It’s like that because we really started out as friends. I’m like his older brother who’s always ready to comfort her during difficult times.”

How do they take it whenever they are being teased or linked to each other?

“Nothing, we just laugh it off. We know the truth and it never crossed our minds to exceed the boundaries of our friendship. Until now, I’m her older brother and I’m just happy to be working with her again here in Little Nanay,” Bembol states.

What Coleen Garcia discovered about her fiancé Billy Crawford By: Marinel R. Cruz - Reporter / @InqEnt Philippine Daily Inquirer / 12:02 AM December 27, 2016

Coleen Garcia

“The year 2016 was a year of discovery for us,” said actress Coleen Garcia, who recently got engaged to actor-TV host Billy Crawford, her boyfriend of three years.

“Toward the end of the year, Billy and I have discovered a lot about ourselves and our relationship,” said Coleen, 24, adding that she was grateful to Billy, 34, “for always being patient and understanding. He is sweet to me every single day. He always makes an effort to make me happy on a daily basis. That’s what I appreciate about him the most—his being consistent.”

The actress on Thursday posted a photo of the engagement ring on her Instagram account with the caption: “Happiest! Thank you, Lord! I’m gonna marry the love of my life.”

At the media gathering for her latest movie, “Extra Service,” Coleen revealed that she was baptized as a Born Again Christian only in November. “Billy plans to do the same,” she said of her fiancé.

Coleen said Billy would also go with her and her family on a trip to Spain for the holidays. “It would be our first family vacation after a long while,” she declared.

COLEEN AND BILLY

Coleen said she was determined to carry on with some “self-improvement” plans in 2017. “I want to be more organized with my things. I’m so busy that I hardly have time to fix them. I want to be the only one to arrange my things, so I’ll know where to get them,” Coleen shared with the Inquirer. “It was only recently, about the time I did ‘Extra Service,’ that I discovered the benefits of having a massage. I wasn’t too fond of it before. I plan to spend a day at the spa, as a gift to myself.”

The action-comedy by Chris Martinez follows the adventures of Aw (Coleen), Em (Arci Muñoz) and Gee (Jessy Mendiola), who are mild-mannered massage therapists by day, but sexy secret agents by night.

As a crime-fighting squad, they’re tasked to embark on a top-secret mission to retrieve the precious “Perlas ng Silangan” in exchange for their lives and freedom.

Being used to doing heavy drama on television and on the big screen, Coleen admitted she initially felt nervous after finding out that she would be doing an action-comedy film. “Now that I’ve done it, I realized that it’s so much fun. It’s a good experience, because it provides a good balance to what I do as an actor,” she explained.

“Apart from the action stunts, I realized that you really shouldn’t prepare for a comedy movie. What you should do is be more accepting and open to anything that can happen while on the set,” Coleen pointed out. “There were several scenes that weren’t on the script but got included. We also had to make a lot of improvisations.”

Coleen said timing in a comedy film is important. “Musical scoring for this genre is a big thing. Since you cannot hear this while you’re on the set, you have to take the cue from your director. He is the captain of the ship. You just follow him, so he could fulfill his vision.”

“Extra Service” also features Carmi Martin, Ejay Falcon, Enzo Pineda and Vin Abrenica, and will open in theaters on Jan. 11.
