MOTHER LILY MARKS 77th BIRTHDAY WITH SURPRISES

AUGUST 23 -No doubt the most touching moment during the Regal Matriarch’s special day (Aug. 19), celebrated at her own Regal Events Place on Valencia St., Quezon City, was when she hugged and kissed her husband, Remy Monteverde (affectionately and simply known as Father Remy by industry guys), who is defiantly fighting the onset of the years.
The most moving moment (yes, the highlight) of Regal matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde’s 77th birthday last Friday, Aug. 19, was the loving hug and kisses the Birthday Lady planted on the cheek of her husband, Remy Monteverde (fondly and affectionately called as simply Father Remy by the industry guys). Assisted by Stephen Tan, husband of the couple’s daughter Meme Monteverde, Father Remy was admittedly not in his San-Beda-star-player form, slightly bowed by the years, two years his wife’s senior. As cameras clicked, Father Remy broke into a weak smile after the kiss that launched a thousand sighs among the well-heeled well-wishers from showbiz, business, sports and politics. All were accounted for at the Regal Events Place on Valencia St., Quezon City, owned and managed by Mother Lily. There were some surprises, one of them the P1M Mother Lily donated to the MOWELFUND after Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo presented her a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the group that has been helping the less-privileged members of the industry. “The check is not post-dated,” MOWELFUND officer Boots said in jest as she expressed “our profound gratitude.” “I am rich,” Mother replied also in jest, “I have a lot of money.” Three more groups gave Mother Lily their own plaques of appreciation, from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), Enpress (Entertainment Press) and SPEED (Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors), each of which also got a P100,000 donation from Mother Lily who called the movie writers, “my unsung heroes.” READ MORE...

Edu Manzano makes teleserye comeback in ‘Someone To Watch Over Me’ Published August 23, 2016 12:14pm By BIANCA ROSE DABU, GMA News

It’s been 12 years since I did a film. Ayoko lang. ‘Yung huling teleserye ko, 2006 ‘yun. Hindi ko gusto ang oras. Iba kasi kapag gumagawa ka ng teleserye. Ito ako, kapag nagbubukas ako ng TV, hindi ko kilala kung sino ‘yung mga artista,” aniya sa naganap na press conference nitong Lunes.

Dagdag pa niya, "I started in 1980. Naging bahagi ako ng industriya for over 30 years. Naging presidente ako ng KAPP (Kapisanan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino), naging chairman ako ng Optical Media Board. Everything was industry-related. Labis ang paghanga in Edu sa mga bida ng “Someone To Watch Over Me” na sina Tom, Lovi, at Max.

Aniya, umaasa siyang tutularan ng lahat ng mga taga-showbiz ang dedikasyon at propesyonalismong nakita niya sa mga nakababatang artistang nakasama niya sa kaniyang muling paggawa ng teleserye.

Ayon sa batikang aktor, "Ang tindi ng kanilang professionalism, kung papaano maghanda. I have never seen harder-working actors, and that includes the veterans. When they did the scene, hindi sila bumitiw. Kung ano ‘yung iyak, kahit papalit-palit ng camera angles, hindi sila bumibitiw. That’s why I said to myself, these are three individuals na ang sarap tignan because they are taking their craft very, very seriously. Sana ito ang maging norm sa ating industriya.”

Edu Manzano opens up about mother's struggle with Alzheimer's Disease Published August 23, 2016 5:33pm By BIANCA ROSE DABU, GMA News

“My mother, she's on her early 80s noong nagsimula na. Nakikita ko rin 'yung degenerative effect sa tao and I would not wish it on anyone,” pahayag niya sa naganap na press conference nitong Lunes.

Kuwento ni Edu, “It did not take long para lamunin siya ng kaniyang Alzheimer's. Eventually, nakalimutan niya kung sino ako, ang aking mga kapatid. 'Yung pamangkin ko na nag-aalaga sa kaniya sa bahay niya sa Parańaque, 'yun ang kinikilala niya bilang anak.

“Kahit kaharap ko ang nanay ko, kumakain kami, hindi niya ako ina-acknowledge. I saw how difficult it is to have a parent or a loved one have Alzheimer's,” dagdag pa niya.

Another Christmas w/of Mom. Ako yung nasa bottom left, my sister Gigi and the twins Mari and Ricky. Kamukha ni Mom si Luis.

Aniya, “Si Mommy dati, nasa Metropolitan Theater. After 10 years, dinala namin 'yung in-charge sa costumes ng MET. Dinala namin sa bahay para mag-merienda. Kaharap niya ang nanay ko, magkabilang side sila ng lamesa. Nagtinginan sila. After 15 minutes, sabi ng nanay ko, 'Sino siya?' Lahat kami, halos maiyak-iyak because this was someone who played a very, very big role in her life at hindi niya makilala.”

Aniya, “The simplistic thinking is it's just forgetfulness. Be it dementia, Alzheimer's. Pero hindi. It's a more complex ailment. Kaya, I think, this would be a very good time for us to learn something more about a disease that is affecting much of our civilization. Sad to say, maraming sulok ng Pilipinas, ang sinasabi, 'Ay, ulyanin na 'yan.' Ilalagay sa wheelchair tapos magha-hire ng caregiver.”

Dagdag pa ng batikang aktor, “Lahat ng mga bagay na ito, akala natin ay directly related sa age. But, they have to realize na hindi malayong mangyari sa nakababata. What we do is understand it. Hopefully, this show will do just that... This is a way for us to understand kung paanong mabibigyan pa rin sila ng quality of life.”

Matteo hits back at basher who called him 'useless boyfriend' ABS-CBN News Posted at Jul 27 2016 01:33 PM Share Facebook Twitter GPlus LinkedIn Pinterest

MANILA – Matteo Guidicelli did not take a negative comment posted on his Instagram page sitting down.

On Tuesday, one of his followers accused him of being a “mediocre actor, singer and triathlete” and a “useless boyfriend” to singer-actress Sarah Geronimo.

Perhaps fed up with all the negativity, Guidicelli replied to the netizen and said: “Ikaw ano ka?”

But the actor’s reply did not stop the Instagram user as he posted more comments questioning the things which Guidicelli has done for Geronimo.

This prompted the real-life couple’s supporters to flood Guidicelli’s post with positive comments about the actor and Geronimo.

Over two years into their relationship, Guidicelli and Geronimo have managed to keep their personal lives away from the public.

Nonetheless, both have been consistent in their interviews that their relationship is going well despite the intrigues being thrown at them. Currently, Geronimo is on a two-month break from showbiz while Guidicelli has just finished his stint on the primetime series “Dolce Amore.”

Matteo Guidicelli, Sarah Geronimo will not tie the knot anytime soon
By Jane Moraleda, Philippine Canadian Inquirer on August 23, 2016

Before the night ends I would like to say HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the person I love so dearly. Your happiness is contagious and your presence has been life changing. I will do my best to fill your life with sincere limitless JOY. Things are not easy but with Love, everything is possible. Happy birthday!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈🎈🍰🎂

MANILA – Even after two years of being in a relationship, celebrity couple Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo are not about to settle down anytime soon.

During a press conference for an insurance company he endorses, Guidicelli admitted to reporters that marriage is still out of the table for him and his singer-actress girlfriend.

“That day will come… Being married and that chapter of your life is something very serious,” he said. “I know what I want for my future. We just have to be the best version of ourselves and prepare for the future.”

For now, the couple would simply like to enjoy what they have and continue to bring out the best in each other.

“We complement each other. We are not the same in many things and marami kaming mga (we have a lot of) opposites but I think when two opposite people come together, they make the table fuller and make it better,” the actor-triathlete continued.

Undeniably, life became a whole lot better when Geronimo became his girlfriend.

“We influence each other with different things and good things. She just changes me. She makes me feel better. She makes me feel like I have wings. She makes me feel happier and better,” he said with a smile.

More importantly, the singer-actress is adored by his family.

“Family is very important for me. That’s something my family taught me. I know my family raised me for 26 years and they want to end up with an amazing woman. Siyempre (of course) I want to be surrounded by good, positive people and I want to have a good family in the future. My family loves Sarah,” he added.

Although they have no formal wedding plans yet, Guidicelli shared that they have been talking about where their relationship is going.

“Siyempre, may times na pinag-uusapan namin [ang kasal], pero siyempre we’re still fresh in the relationship (Of course there are times when we’re talking about marriage, but of course we’re still fresh in the relationship)… Nothing concrete or anything. There’s just ideas.”

“[But] I’m serious about her. I don’t go into a relationship just for fun… She’s my one and only girl. I’m not sure if I’ve already told her that, but I always try to make her feel that she’s the only one in my life,” he said in an earlier interview with the Inquirer.net.

James Yap and girlfriend Michela ‘Mic’ Cazzola during the birth of baby Michael James (MJ) on Aug. 8 at St. Luke’s Medical Center (Global City).

“Mic and I alternate in waking up every two hours to check on MJ,” said James who has two other sons, Bimby (with ex-wife Kris Aquino) and one with his former girlfriend. “I help Mic change MJ’s diapers and assist her in breastfeeding MJ who is matakaw. “Very Italian looking,” approved James, referring to Mic’s native country. “Yung ilong lang ni MJ at bibig ang nakuha sa akin.”

James recalled that Mic labored for 24 hours and he never left her side, until Mic was rushed to the delivery room. “Even if I have practice, never kong iniwan si Mic. Doon na ako sa ospital natutulog.”

I asked James for his picture helping MJ burp, but he begged off (that’s why Funfare opted to reprint the Family 3’s first photo together at the hospital), saying that Mic is “possessive” about the baby and she doesn’t want MJ’s photo published just yet.

“She doesn’t even allow the yaya to hold the baby,” James said. “Gusto niya siya lang talaga ang mag-aalaga kay MJ who stays in our room.”

Asked if Bimby has seen his younger brother, James said not yet.

“He’s welcome to visit MJ anytime,” assured James.

Is Kris welcome, too?

“Kung gusto niya, why not? Wala namang problema dyan.”

Gabby on KC's bf Aly: A man with honor and a loving gentleman FUNFARE By Ricky Lo (The Philippine Star) | Updated August 29, 2016 - 12:00am 0 0 googleplus0 0

This family picture from Sharon Cuneta’s Instagram was taken at the recent birthday dinner for the family patriarch Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, with KC Concepcion and boyfriend Aly Borromeo (standing, right) and KC’s siblings (from left) Miel, Frankie and Miguel.

Not since her failed romance with Piolo Pascual has KC Concepcion been passionately open with her current one, with Azkal Aly Borromeo…unless we can count as “romance” KC’s short-lived association with Paulo Avelino and a Frenchman. All you have to do is check out the Instagram accounts of both KC and Aly, and you will see how very much in love they are, so in love that you can only wish that there would be “forever” between them.

Item: From KC’s Instagram, a picture of her and Aly cheek-to-cheek while licking ice cream in cones, captioned: This guy & his killer sweet tooth! Of course we rushed to @godiva for dark chocolate SOFT SERVE. We made it 5 minutes before it closed! When there’s a will, there’s a way. Good thing we’ve been walking around the city so much, naturally burning calories at a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. #FoodtripWithKC#AlysFeasts#Kacescapades HONGKONG.

Item: From Aly’s Instagram, a picture of him and KC submerged in the water, taken in San Juan, La Union, captioned: She is definitely a natural! So proud of this one rippin’ it with her first few waves! Thank you @flotsamandjetsamhostel for hooking it up!#SurfingLU

The first time we at Philippine STAR met Aly was a few years ago when he and fellow Azkals (including the Younghusband brothers Phil and James) dropped by for a visit. We found him easy to like, very friendly. No wonder KC’s dad, Gabby Concepcion, is all praises for Aly.

Funfare asked Gabby what he had to say about Aly and he texted back: He is well-mannered, educated, sensitive, kind-hearted, a loving gentleman. He is a man with honor, dignified and commands the respect he well deserves. He comes from a good, respectable and talented family, a family that is proud to have a son like Aly Borromeo.

KC and dad Gabby Concepcion.

Okay, Aly, beat your breast and shout…YES!!!!!!

KC and Aly’s sweet moments, taken from their Instagram accounts.

KC’s mom Sharon Cuneta posted a family picture which includes Aly, taken during the birthday dinner for KC’s stepdad Sen. Kiko Pangilinan at the family residence. Very clearly, Aly is now considered part of the Cuneta-Pangilinan family.

Texted for her impression of Aly, Sharon begged off in deference to KC’s feelings.

Oh well, Sharon needed not say a word. After all, doesn’t a picture speak a thousand words?

Incidentally, Gabby has just been signed up as endorser of Anagen Advanced Hair Rebuild System of Healthwell Nutraceuticals, Inc., an affiliate of YSA Skincare Corporation.

“I’m actually scared that I will soon have a receding hairline,” fiftyish Gabby was quoted as saying. “So even if that time hasn’t come yet, I’m taking steps to strengthen my hair.”
