The first time Michela Cazzola underwent an ultrasound, the gender of the baby couldn’t be determined, “kasi nakatalikod siya” according to Michela’s boyfriend James Yap. That was two weeks ago. Recently, Michela again had an ultrasound and, yes, she and James will have a baby boy to be delivered sometime end of July or middle of August. “We have several names in mind for the baby but we haven’t chosen which one yet,” Michela, who is into her sixth month of pregnancy, told Funfare. It will be James’ third child; the first is from a previous relationship and second is Bimby, with ex-wife Kris Aquino who is with Bimby and other son Joshua on a three-month doctor-advised vacation in Hawaii to stabilize her erratic blood pressure. James, 34 (last Feb. 15), and Michela (turning 33 on Oct. 27) have been going steady since 2012. Michela told Funfare in an earlier interview that they do have plans of getting married, perhaps when their son is old enough to serve as ring bearer. Meanwhile, James is recuperating from a right-calf injury he sustained during the third quarter of last Sunday’s game in which his team, Star Hotshots, lost to the San Miguel Beermen (117-98). The two-time MVP (Most Valuable Player) cried “Ouch!” when he was injected with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) at the St. Luke’s Medical Center (Global). READ MORE...

MARCH 28 -The album of country music’s favorite duo Joey Feek and Martin Feek is filled with beautiful songs and a real-life story of faith
The album Hymns That Are Important To Us, kept showing up in the hit lists these past weeks and it is by a duo I had not heard of before, Joey + Rory. I thought it very strange, a CD of hymns alongside Rihanna and Justin Bieber. It also had this cover picture and old-fashioned layout that are right out of American country of some years ago.
I just had to check it out. And what I found was truly wonderful. I found not only an album of beautiful songs but also an inspiring real-life story of great faith and courage. Joey is Joey Feek, the girl lead singer. Doing harmonies and playing the guitar is her husband, the singer and songwriter Rory Martin Feek. As Joey + Rory, they are country music’s favorite duo. They won the Country Music Award for Top Vocal Duo of the Year in 2009 and the Academy of Country Music Award for Top Vocal Duo in 2011. They have one daughter Indiana, who was born with Down’s Syndrome. READ MORE...MORE PHOTOS...ALBUM VIDEO...

Quezon City 3rd District Councilor candidate Abigail ‘Kate’ Coseteng with (right) her husband, former Quezon City Councilor Julian Coseteng, and their children Ryan and Joshua: Her priority is education

A beauty on the campaign trail

With the campaign for candidates at the local level now in full swing, residents of Quezon City’s Third District (including the depressed areas, subdivisions and business centers like Eastwood and Araneta) will be seeing more and more of Abigail “Kate” Coseteng who’s running for councilor.

If Kate looks familiar, it’s because she once hosted Kate TALKative Show on Studio 23. If the surname sounds familiar, it’s because Kate is the wife of former Quezon City Councilor Julian and the daughter-in-law of Sen. Nikki Coseteng who has opted to quit public service and take it easy, letting Julian take over the family business.

“I learned a lot from Julian and Mommy Nikki,” said Kate who served as Valenzuela City councilor for three terms. “They always remind me to serve well.”

A Business Management graduate from Sienna College (QC), Kate was an active member and officer of the school’s Student Council. She’s the eldest daughter of business entrepreneurs Rod Galang (from Bicol and Pampanga) and Grace Dela Vega (from Pampanga and Pangasinan).

“My priority is education,” said Kate who, as Valenzuela City councilor, supported hundreds of scholars most of whom are now professionals. If elected, “I will duplicate that in Quezon City and put up a full-fledged university like the ones in Manila and Makati.” That is, aside from giving medical assistance to the needy.

Kate said that she is supporting the effort of QC Mayor Herbert Bautista and QC Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte in making QC the center of art, culture and cinema, after all most of movie companies and TV stations are based in the city.

HOME › NEWS › JOEY + RORY UPDATE: JOEY RETURNS TO THE STAGE AS SHE PREPARES TO CONTINUE CANCER TREATMENT 217 335 1921 Print Joey + Rory Update: Joey Returns to the Stage as She Prepares to Continue Cancer Treatment ROUGH BEGINNING, BUT FEELING BETTER. Tammy Ragusa | Published: Aug 10, 2015 COUNTRYWEEKLY.COM NASHVILLE

While the battle isn’t over, it appears that Joey + Rory’s Joey Martin Feek is feeling better after undergoing surgery at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Chicago. According to husband Rory’s blog, Joey has returned to their farm in Tennessee, where she continues to recover.

American country music, unless it is by Taylor Swift, is not popular in the Philippines and the distributors of foreign labels do not usually release country albums locally. That is why we have not seen or heard of anything by Joey + Rory.

Now, this is one of those instances when you can say thank heaven for the Internet and for streaming because these technological advances have made albums like Joey + Rory’s Hymns available to everybody everywhere.

Joey and Rory have recorded six albums.

Hymns is their seventh and their biggest seller. It was released last Feb. 12 and is also their last ever recording. Hymns was recorded while Joey was racked with pain and fear as she battled the deadly recurrence of ovarian cancer.

She died last March 4 with Rory by her side and after she received the fulfillment of her last wishes, that she be able to celebrate Christmas, the New Year, the Grammys, the release of Hymns and Valentine’s Day one last time. Joey was 40 years old.

Joey Feek Gives A Brave Smile From Hospice Care in Latest Photo With Her Family NOVEMBER 19, 2015

Joey and Rory titled the album 'Hymns That Are Important To Us' but they might as well have said Hymns That Are Important To You, or to us, to anybody. Included in the album are such well-loved, familiar hymns that with Joey’s angelic vocals bring comfort to tired, restless souls. Her death may have fuelled the rise in sales but this is really one album that everybody will love and given its effect on the listener, that everybody should have.

It would have been really superb if Amazing Grace and It Is No Secret had been included in the line-up, but I am nitpicking. The songs in Hymns are timeless favorites and some I heard for the first time that are just as enchanting and meaningful.

The selections are: Take My Hand Precious Lord, I Surrender All, He Touched Me, Softly And Tenderly, Jesus Loves Me, It Is Well With My Soul, The Old Rugged Cross, I Need Thee Every Hour, How Great Thou Art, Jesus Paid All, Suppertime and as her way of bidding goodbye, there are I’ll Fly Away and When I’m Gone. This is indeed one album for the ages.

On a lighter note, here is an excellent recommendation for those of you who are putting together your personal playlists. Here are the Top 20 songs from Billboard’s 20 Years of the Adult Pop Songs Chart, a hit list for people who are over 25. I love all of the songs and they are just right to brighten anybody’s day.
