Television host Mariel Rodriguez turned 31 years old on Monday confined to bed at her home due to her delicate pregnancy.

“Happy 31st birthday! My 3 in 1,” her husband, actor Robin Padilla, greeted her in a proxy post on her Instagram feed shortly after midnight — the caption to a photo of Mariel in pink pajamas sleeping soundly in an expansive reclining chair, curled up like a fetus against a white pillow.

He followed it up with a similar post on his own Instagram account, using a tighter shot of his slumbering wife.

Robin reported August 1 that Mariel was carrying twins. Two days later, he amended the news and said she could be pregnant with triplets, citing a statement from her obstetrician, Dr. Eileen Manalo of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa.

“Your past 30 years brought you [a] life of happiness and adventure… I pray to the Almighty Creator to continue blessing you with his mercy and compassion on this very critical stage of your ultimate dream of being a good mother,” he addressed the birthday girl in a post early Monday.

“You are right, whatever is the size of the third sac, she needs our parenthood now more than when she comes out because right now she is fighting for her survival… Happy birthday mom,” he added.

In his August 2 post, Robin said the three fetuses were at different stages of development. [One] has a heartbeat, [one] has a forming fetal pole, and [one] has a sac. All iba ibang age,” he said.

This early, he has already assigned names to each one, despite the uncertainty of their genders, let alone whether they would in fact be triplets or just twins — Juan, Maria, and Gabriella.

In an August 8 post, he hedged his bet on the gender of the “youngest sac,” calling it “Gabriella or El Cid” as he appealed for prayers.

The post (see above) came with a cute photo of infant triplets wearing statement shirts. The first baby’s shirt says, “I was planned.” The second says, “I was not.” The third says, “Me neither.”

Robin and Mariel are Muslims who got married at the Taj Mahal almost five years ago.

Last March, a devastated Mariel revealed to social media that she had been pregnant for eight weeks with what would have been their first child but had a miscarriage.

What Stephen Colbert says about Trump as opening night nears By Frazier Moore (Associated Press) | Updated August 11, 2015 - 3:10pm 1 1 googleplus0 0

Stephen Colbert participates in "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" segment of the CBS Summer TCA Tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, in Beverly Hills, Calif. Richard Shotwell /Invision/AP

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — With Donald Trump's presidential bid generating news as well as comedy gold, Stephen Colbert is itching to get his share of the laughs once he returns to the air Sept. 8 as host of CBS' "The Late Show."

"Every night I light a candle that he stays in the race until Sept. 8," Colbert says. "But I also hope that nobody gets that candle too close to his hair."

In the meantime, off the air and with no venue, "I'm just dry-Trumping," Colbert added, then, impressed with his pun, stopped to tweet it from the stage as he met with TV critics on Monday.

Other things he said during this session: George Clooney will guest on opening night, with Kendrick Lamar (who performed on the final "Colbert Report" last fall) his first musical guest.

— Like Stephen Colbert, the right-wing blowhard he played for 11 years on "The Colbert Report," the real-life Stephen Colbert is honestly afraid of bears: "If something's gone bad in my life, I dream about bears."

— He's pledging to maintain the eclectic mix of guests he hosted on "The Colbert Report," including artists, intellectuals, "politicians of all stripes," and even ordinary folks: "Somebody who's not famous but who's got something to say, I think that would be the perfect guest to have."

— He and his staff moved into the offices above Manhattan's Ed Sullivan Theater — former home of David Letterman and his "Late Show" — only last week, and the set is under construction now. Among the physical changes from Dave's decades-long reign: the host desk will be found across the stage.

During a recent conversation with Letterman that Colbert characterized as candid and warm, he asked Dave if there's anything about his own tenure he would have changed. Letterman said he would have liked to have his desk on the opposite side of the stage.

Colbert said he promptly called the production designer: "I have terrible news. Reverse the set, because I want to try that, too."

— He said he likes his soon-to-be-rival, Jimmy Fallon, and admires Fallon's "Tonight Show," and he declared any lingering traces of the Late Night Wars to be over: "The idea of war between hosts makes no sense to me. ... I didn't play a lot of sports when I was younger, so maybe I missed the competitive gene. Competition's not that fun to me. We're competing with ourselves to have fun on the show."

— CBS is giving Colbert a free hand to do the show he wants to do: "There have been no instructions. I think they liked what we did and are hoping we do more."

— But now he just wants to stop talking about "The Late Show" and get started doing it: "I don't like comedy in theory. That's just theology. I want to get to the religion!"

Madonna reveals what to expect in Rebel Heart Tour (The Philippine Star) | Updated August 16, 2015 - 12:00am 4 0 googleplus0 0

MANILA, Philippines - Get ready for the biggest music experience of your life as Globe Telecom presents Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour in Manila on Feb. 24 and 25, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“Together with millions of Filipinos who are ecstatic about Madonna’s first trip to the Philippines for the country’s biggest musical spectacle to date, Globe is very excited to celebrate this big entertainment milestone that will transcend future generations. Bringing a global music icon and superstar closer to her fans is part of our commitment to make music an integral part of the Filipino lifestyle,” shares Globe Telecom SVP for Consumer Mobile Marketing Issa Cabreira.

In her recent Rolling Stone cover story, Madonna shared just how involved she is in every aspect of her concerts. “I’ve always been that way, and then it’s just developed over the years, as I’ve done more things,” she explained. “I really want to see everything. If it’s around me and it’s part of my show, I need to be a part of all of it. From the creation of the music, to the surface of the floor, to everyone’s hairstyle, to the details with the buttons and the bows and the snaps and the zippers. All of those things.”

Also, in a recent article on wwd.com, Madonna revealed the top designers she will collaborate with for The Rebel Heart Tour:

“Throughout her long career, Madonna has enlisted the world’s top designers, most famously Jean Paul Gaultier, to collaborate on the costumes for her globe-trotting tours. She revealed exclusively to WWD the designers who made the cut, including Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang. And add Madonna to the Alessandro Michele fans club: The Gucci creative director also pitched in.

Just like she’s been teasing her setlist on Instagram for months — yes, “Vogue” and “Holiday” will make appearances on the tour — Madonna has also been posting snippets of looks she’s been working on with her longtime costume designer, Academy Award-nominated Arianne Phillips.

Ahead of the tour’s opening in Montreal on Sept. 9, she is revealing the full list of designers: Fausto Puglisi, Prada and Miu Miu, Swarovski and the Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran are the others. She’ll show sketches at a later date.

Curiously, Versace, in whose 2015 advertising campaign Madonna appeared, is not involved in this tour. Phillips, who has been nominated for two Oscars, including her work on Madonna’s own “W.E.,” is marking her sixth tour with Madonna and will also contribute costumes.

Some of the other designers, though, like Michele, are more surprising, underscoring the singer’s knack for spotting new talent.

Long before pop acts fraternized with fashion designers, it was Madonna who asked Gaultier in 1990 to design costumes for her famous “Blonde Ambition” World Tour. He delivered the now iconic coned bra and the two have since collaborated on several tours, on 2001’s “Drowned World,” 2006’s “Confessions” and 2012’s “MDNA,” which included a reinterpretation of their best-known garment.

Previous tours included costumes from Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Christian Lacroix — he designed the crystal-studded corset that opened the “Reinvention” tour in 2004 — and Riccardo Tisci, who designed the costumes the singer wore during the halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl.

“People say everything has a limit,” Tisci told WWD at the time, “but limits do not exist with Madonna.” With today’s news, that still seems to be the case.”

The Rebel Heart Tour is the 10th worldwide concert tour by Madonna in support of her 13th studio album, Rebel Heart.

It will kick off in September in Montreal, Canada and continue throughout North America, Europe and Asia, finally concluding in March 2016 in Australia.

Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour in Manila is produced by Live Nation Global Touring and MMILive.

David Foster: I still believe in Charice By Nathalie Tomada (The Philippine Star) | Updated August 16, 2015 - 12:00am 1 0 googleplus0 0

Foster, who is the first global brand ambassador of AirAsia, is looking for the next Asian singing superstar

KUALA LUMPUR — David Foster is on the look-out for the next Asian singing superstar. The Grammy-winning record producer and hitmaker, who has worked with the likes of Josh Groban, Chicago, Celine Dion and the late Whitney Houston, admitted though that they came close to finding one a few years back with Charice.

David, however, isn’t giving up on the Filipino singer.

“There’s a lot of talent in Asia. If you just do the math, there’s a billion and a half Asian people here, there’s gonna be superstars here. We came very close with Charice from the Philippines. She has issues that she had to overcome and she’s trying to get over those issues and when she does, we will hit with her again because I believe in her,” said David during a presscon Wednesday in the Malaysian capital introducing him as the global brand ambassador of the Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia.

It was David who produced Charice’s first international album, which cracked the No. 8 spot on the Billboard 200 on its debut in 2010. Charice also appeared in David’s concert tours in the US and around Asia.

David recalled that it was painful to watch Charice, now 23, wrestling with sexuality issues back when she went on tour with him some years ago.

“When I say problems, it’s no big secret that she is with a woman, and not a man. And she struggled with it. It was so painful to watch. We were on tour when she was struggling with it, so it should be something that’s just is and accepted… I think she’s come to terms with it, and now she’s getting back to business and I hope that I can be (there) to help her,” he said.

Meantime, David and Charice will reunite on stage when the former brings his Asian concert series David Foster & Friends featuring Jackie Evancho, Peter Cetera of Chicago, Ruben Studdard, Boyz II Men and Natalie Cole, to Manila on Aug. 18 at the Big Dome. Charice last performed with David during Asia’s Got Talent finals last May. Season 2 of the top-rating talent search is set to air next year.

When asked if he’s going to collaborate with or produce any talent from Asia’s Got Talent where he sat on the judging panel with Anggun, Vanness Wu and Melanie C., David hinted at the possibility of working with Gerphil Flores. “The one girl Gerphil (Flores) from the Philippines who I love and I would see her in a few days, she’s an amazing young opera singer, she’s like a flower who had opened. The first day of auditions, she was this (flower bud). But you could tell she had a great voice. And by the end, she blossomed,” he said of the Asia’s Got Talent second runner-up, who was dubbed as his Golden Girl after she earned David’s Golden Buzzer fast-track pass to the semi-finals. “But yeah, I’m gonna find an Asian superstar. That is on my bucket list.”

Presently, David’s record label Verve has signed up a Malaysian singer-songwriter named Yuna. “Yuna is an artist that I signed, and we’ve just recorded a duet with Usher, I think that might be the thing that takes her over to the top. And I have 100 percent faith in her. We’re not giving up on her. Our goal is to make her a superstar.”

Charice with her mentor when she guested on Asia’s Got Talent

When asked about the qualities he wants to see in potential artists, David said he always gravitates to great singers. “Well, I’m drawn to people who can sing. I know that maybe that sounds like an oversimplification but there’s plenty of people out there who have hit records but are not great singers, and someone like Britney Spears comes to mind.

She’s amazing, she’s got great hits and she’s got great choice in music but it’s just that I don’t know what to do with her ’coz she’s not a great singer. I’m drawn to great voices like Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion... That’s where I’ve sort of honed my skills.”

Meanwhile, AirAsia’s big boss Tony Fernandes wants to be on board with David’s plans. Their ties go a long way back: Tony is a former music executive who had worked extensively with David before shifting in 2001 to the aviation business and taking over a budget airline company then in dire straits.

“That’s my secret wish in tying up with David,” Tony mused.

“Just listening to David, my mind’s going overtime. We get involved in promoting so many artists and doing so much so I think AirAsia can help local artists, like the opera singer (Gerphil Flores) that David just mentioned. It’s fantastic to hear that a Malaysian artist is doing a duet with Usher, we got to support it and we’re going to get behind it, and and all Filipino artists (around the world), we will really get behind it.”
