COPS RECOUNT BILLY CRAWFORD'S ALLEGED MISCHIEF

SEPT 8 --PHOTO: Singer and television host Billy Joe Crawford performs in this undated photo released by ABS-CBN PR. MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED, 6:22 p.m.) — Two female members of the Taguig City Police, who encountered an allegedly drunk television host Billy Joe Crawford early Sunday morning, formally filed multiple complaints Monday before the Taguig City Prosecutors Office. Crawford, a co-host of noontime variety program "It's Showtime," faces possible charges of alarm and scandal, direct assault, malicious mischief, direct assault and disobedience to an agent of person in authority. Inquest prosecutor Arthur Pefianco, however, said the complaints of direct assault and alarm and scandal were dismissed during the inquest investigation as the incident did not happen in a public place and that Crawford did not seriously resisted the police officers in such a manner that he intended to defy the law.

In their complaint, 29-year-old PO1 Rodelma Canao and PO1 28-year-old Jasmine Zipagan said Crawford, 32, a resident of Batasan Hills, Quezon City, arrived at about 4:30 am at the Police Community Precinct (PCP) 7 where they were manning the police assistance desk. PCP-7 is located at the Fort Strip inside the Bonifacio Global City. Pefianco said bail for Crawford’s temporary liberty was set by the Metropolitan Trial Court of Taguig at P2,000 for each count. The two policewomen said Crawford arrived at the police station "under the influence of liquor." Canao said she greeted Crawford in a "courteous manner" when Crawford allegedly shouted "Bring me to your headquarters! I want to go to your headquarters not here!" Canao said she tried to pacify Crawford but the TV host allegedly told her that if he is not brought to the Taguig Police headquarters within five seconds, he would start damaging the precinct. Canao said she and Zipagan again tried to pacify Crawford but he pushed them away. He then punched the sliding glass door of the precinct causing it to shatter, the policewomen claimed. After damaging the sliding glass door, Crawford–still shouting–then went inside the precinct and scattered documents placed on a table. *READ MORE...

Cops recount Billy Crawford's alleged mischief

Singer and television host Billy Joe Crawford performs in this undated photo released by ABS-CBN PR.

MANILA, SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 (PHILSTAR) By Mike Frialde - Two female members of the Taguig City Police, who encountered an allegedly drunk television host Billy Joe Crawford early Sunday morning, formally filed multiple complaints Monday before the Taguig City Prosecutors Office.

Crawford, a co-host of noontime variety program "It's Showtime," faces possible charges of alarm and scandal, direct assault, malicious mischief, direct assault and disobedience to an agent of person in authority.

Inquest prosecutor Arthur Pefianco, however, said the complaints of direct assault and alarm and scandal were dismissed during the inquest investigation as the incident did not happen in a public place and that Crawford did not seriously resisted the police officers in such a manner that he intended to defy the law.In their complaint, 29-year-old PO1 Rodelma Canao and PO1 28-year-old Jasmine Zipagan said Crawford, 32, a resident of Batasan Hills, Quezon City, arrived at about 4:30 am at the Police Community Precinct (PCP) 7 where they were manning the police assistance desk.

I want to go to your headquarters not here!"

Canao said she tried to pacify Crawford but the TV host allegedly told her that if he is not brought to the Taguig Police headquarters within five seconds, he would start damaging the precinct.

* Again, Canao said she and Zipagan tried to pacify Crawford but they were overpowered. It was at this point that PO2 Anthony Llagas and PO1 Francis Nicholas arrived at the precinct aboard a patrol car and saw the commotion.

According to the complaint, Llagas and Nicholas tried to pacify Crawford who allegedly continued to run amok. Llagas and Nicholas then arrested Crawford.

Initial reports said Crawford arrived at the PCP-7 and demanded to be detained.

An apologetic Crawford later told reporters that he was indeed under the influence of liquor when he asked the police to hold him because, according to him, he was stressed and wanted to be in a "controlled environment."

Insp. Jonathan Aribe, PCP-7 commander said Crawford slammed his body against the glass door of the precinct, causing it to break.

"It was my fault but I did not hurt anybody. I did not push anyone. I did not hurt anyone but the glass," an apologetic Crawford told reporters earlier.

"It was my fault for actually being aggressive. It's a good thing it didn't happen in a bar, it didn't happen anywhere else. It happened in a precinct. The reason why is because I knew for a fact I needed to be in a controlled environment. So as I said, I really apologize to the officers if I said anything derogatory or anything else," Crawford added.

If there’s heaven on earth, Bojo Molina must have found it in Guam, that cozy little island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Bojo and his family joined us for dinner hosted by Emilio Uy (community leader, concert producer, businessman and “Ninong ng Mga Pinoy sa Guam”), together with Guam Sen. Dennis Rodriguez Jr. and his wife Lena, and newly-posted Philippine Consul-General Marciano de Borja with his wife Esperanza and their daughter Agatha.

Now 41, Ubaldo “Bojo” Molina Punongbayan Jr. is married to Johansen ”Jen” Kwe with whom he has two children, Bryzen Oliver, 11, and Jaedyn Olivia, six years old. Jen is a charming lady, ready with a bedimpled smile, and pleasing/pleasant as teachers are expected to be. She graduated from the University of Guam (where actor Benjamin Alves also graduated summa cum laude with an AB Literature degree), a teacher for six years and now an assistant principal in one of the island’s schools for nine years.

* How long have you been in Guam?

“On Nov. 15, I should be here for 13 years.”

And how’s life here?

“Very good. I’m very blessed. You have just seen my family. My kids are very healthy. And my wife is, well, you have seen how she is.”

She’s very beautiful, mukhang artista. How are you as a dad?

“Ah, well, I hope I’m good. So far, my kids are, well, okey naman sila. Sabi nila, when kids grow up away from the Philippines, nawawala daw ang Filipino traits, ‘yung magalang at paggamit ng ‘po’ at ‘opo.’ I am strict when it comes to disciplining the children.”

(To Jen) How’s Bojo as a husband?

“As a husband, he’s very good. As a father, he’s just as good. As a couple, we do have our ups and downs but we have a way of ironing things out amicably.”

What’s a typical day in your life like?

“I start my day by jogging and then I drive my kids to school and my wife to work. Then I go to work in the afternoon. After work, I pick them up, we have dinner together, and that’s it. Very regular. Very routine. Simple lang.”

How is your work?

“I’m doing well naman. I’m the marketing director of 17 theaters which are known here as the Tango Theater, 12 of them are at the Micronesia Mall and five at the Agana Theater.”

Oh, your job is in a way still connected to showbiz.

“Yes. We are the only theaters that play Filipino movies, by Star Cinema, Viva and Regal. We were the ones who launched TFC (The Filipino Channel) here in Guam 25 years na yata ‘yon. I was a Star Circle talent at that time, kami nina Rico (Yan), Jolina (Magdangal), Claudine (Barretto) and Marvin (Agustin). We were together in the movie Flames and we graced the inauguration of TFC. Rico and Regine (Tolentino) were in Star Circle Batch One; Marvin, Diether (Ocampo) and Mylene (Dizon) were in Batch Two; and I was in Batch Three with Piolo (Pascual), Carlos (Agassi), Kaye (Abad) and Paolo (Contis).”

Refresh my memory…how long were you in showbiz?

“From 1997 to 2002, so about five years. I did shows on TV like Super Laff-In, Marinella and Okatokat, and some guestings on MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya) and then I transferred to Viva, did a few shows for IBC 13 and some with GMA. The last time I counted, I did 11 movies, the last having been Four Fathers (for Metro Filmfest) in which I played a priest along with Gerald (Madrid), Bobby (Andrews) and Polo (Ravales). That was in 2001.”

That was the year you came to Guam, right?

“Yes. Happy naman ako dito, sobra!”

Why did you leave showbiz?

“I wanted a change of life and at the same time start my own family. Actually, a lot of things led me to where I am now. I would call it a leap of faith. Luckily for me, Jen was still here when I came back.”

What do you mean?

“Well, in 2000, I was invited to be a guest at a birthday party where I would serenade the celebrator who was turning sweet 16. It was at that party where I first met Jen who was introduced to me by a mutual friend.”

How did the courtship go?

“Oh, it was a long-distance kind of courtship. We began going steady and after a year, we broke up, and got back together again. Then, I thought of starting a new life and having my own family. I thought it was unfair to drag whoever I would marry to showbiz life baka mahirapan mag-adjust. I must add that it was showbiz that brought me to Guam. Kung hindi ako nag-showbiz, baka hindi ko na-meet ang future wife ko.”

Why Guam of all places?

“I came back for her. When I left in 2000, I really had an intention of seeing her again. We didn’t have any plan to get married but things happened so fast that two weeks after we reconciled, we decided to get married. Why Guam? Because it’s a beautiful place and I can easily go to the Philippines. Actually, I’ve been coming and going, pabalik-balik ako.”

Did she know that you were a playboy (joke)?

(Blushes) “Hindi naman po playboy, lapitin lang po! Hehehehe!” (Jen traces her family roots to Iloilo. She grew up in San Diego, California, and Hawaii where her father, Julio Kwe, a Chinese-American retired from the US Navy, was stationed. Her mom, Mercy Kwe, is Filipina. The family stayed for a while in Guam before Johansson’s parents decided to retire in Hawaii. The eldest of three siblings, Jen opted to remain in Guam to pursue a career in education.) “I was lucky when I came back because at that time she was already planning to go back to San Diego. Kung natuloy siya, eh di hindi sana kami nagkita uli.”

Having been in showbiz, how were you able to adjust to life in Guam (which is a small, laid-back island barely 212 square miles, roughly 549 square kilometers, in area)?

“Sabi nga nila, kung ang takbo sa Pilipinas ay kumbaga 100 miles per hour, here in Guam it is only 20 miles per hour. There are many Filipinos here so I feel as if I never left home at all. It was easy for me to adjust to a simple life here because I am a probinsyano at heart. I grew up in the province, in Laguna, the fourth among five children.

“Medyo my access to certain things was nabawasan when I moved here. But eventually, as I started working in different places until I reached where I am now, I was able naman to build connections. Aside from managing the theaters, I do other things like producing shows. We produced the ASAP show here and we’re doing some projects for Philippine Airlines. Before end of this month, we are bringing here the Philippine basketball team for an exhibition game.”

Did you hold any other job?

“My first job here was an admin assistant for a company that helped the victims of a supertyphoon that hit Guam in 2002. I was there for six months because the company was just a program for grants. Then, for six months I produced, directed and hosted a lifestyle/magazine TV show called P-Jazz. I also worked for a cable company and a credit company.”

So are you here for good?

“Who knows, maybe if I retire we might settle down in the Philippines. One sister is in New Jersey but my parents and other siblings are still in the Philippines. Guam is only a four-hour flight away from the Philippines, so we can shuttle between Guam and the Philippines, why not?”

Gretchen Barretto

"The ultimate beauty,” “an icon of sophistication” — these are just of the superlatives that have been attached to the name Gretchen Barretto. She, however, best describes herself as in the lyrics of a Christina Perri song, “Only Human.”

“I work very hard. I love my family. I’m not perfect, but I stand up,” exclaims the actress.

Like anyone who has worked hard to be where they want to be, Gretchen likes to enjoy the fruits of her labor.

“I love clothes, jewelry. I don’t want to sound materialistic, but I’m a girl. A girl always gets excited over jewelry,” she confesses. “When you’re in the mood, when you’re happy, you like to play around and that’s when I put on all my jewelry and whatever, bangles… I have formal ones for gowns and hoops if for everyday. I like a variety. If you’re truly a girl, you want a variety — hoops, diamond studs, big and small.”

Alongside her diamonds and black gold pieces, her favorite is an irregularly shaped pair of hoops for everyday wear.
“The everyday look. I’m more into that now,” she declares.

When asked what piece she would choose to don forever, she replied, “That’s the most difficult question to answer. I don’t want to limit myself to actually just pick one piece. Can my answer be all?”

While it is “a necessity and a must” for her to wear jewels, she says she does not always want to put on expensive or heavy ones. Diamonds might be Marilyn Monroe’s best friends, but they are not always the thing for Gretchen.

“Mukha lang kasi akong mamahalin kaya akala n’yo, laging mahal ang suot ko,” she giggles. “Pero actually, hindi lahat kailangan mahal. Hindi dapat lahat mahal. It’s how you sport your jewelry or accessories and clothes. You can mix.”

Greta, as Barretto is fondly called, might be sophisticated, seemingly perched on a pedestal and had been rumored to be “high maintenance,” but she vehemently swears she is actually a “reachable star.”

“Being a girl, I love to dress up, but not necessarily expensive or chunky ones. In our everyday life, we just want something that’s classic and fun,” she advocates. “Sa panahon ngayon, ayaw natin na gumagastos tayo ng napakalaki for jewelry. We also want to be safe. It’s not safe to wear very expensive pieces.”

Thus, when styling and accessorizing, Greta advises to combine both pricey and inexpensive ones. One day, for example, she went out in a pair of Topshop pants from her daughter Dominique. “Two thousand pesos,” she reveals the pants’ price. “Pero ‘pag sinuot ko, mukha nang mahal,” she quips.

She paired the trousers with a Balenciaga top and Celine shoes. “Puwede mong dayain. Ibig sabihin, puwede ka talaga mag-budget.”

* Dominique, says Gretchen, grew up seeing her mix and match. “I don’t give her advice when it comes to fashion anymore. She’s 19 years old. She grew up watching me play around with clothes, jewelry, accessories, expensive and inexpensive items. She grew up seeing it, so I guess, you don’t have to teach anyone who has seen everything that goes around. She’s actually smarter than me when it comes to budgeting. She would not always buy very, very expensive things… I actually learn from her, because she would always buy at a bargain if she can.”

When it comes to jewelry, the actress finds variety in prices, sizes and styles at Karat World.

“Gretchen is a modern woman who exudes timeless elegance and grace, yet she is a confident and tough woman who stands by her man,” Karat World managing partner Felix Gorriceta III explains on why he and his family picked the star to be their brand’s new face.

Gretchen can now be seen in the label’s latest campaign, which Gorriceta says, aims to show the actress in a new light — not typically as she is seen in the movies, “but someone playful, down to earth and relatable.”

“Without jewelry, something is lacking. A simple earring, stud, cuff or necklace completes a woman,” Gorriceta espouses.

When asked how many karats does she thinks she is, Greta candidly cajoled, “I really don’t know. I really can’t tell… All I know is that my heart is as golden as Karat World.”

For her, however, no bling can outshine a heartfelt smile.

“Keeping a positive attitude makes you beautiful. I think that’s the secret now. You really be positive and happy,” she notes. “I think positive. That’s my principle in life, so that everything that would come my way would also be positive.”
If she can ask for anything more in life, what would it be?

“Accepting what you don’t have and just enjoying the moment, the blessings you have every day is more than enough.”

Michela describes Bimby as very “polite.”

“He’s nice. He’s actually a cool guy. So smart, I really like him and he is so cute,” she said in a previous interview on “Tapatan Ni Tunying.”

Meanwhile, James approves of his son’s upcoming film “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin 2,” an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Like ex-wife Kris Aquino, the 32-year-old father wants to watch their son work.

Kris Aquino buys Chowking franchise ABS-CBNnews.com Posted at 09/11/2014 3:08 PM | Updated as of 09/11/2014 3:13 PM

MANILA -- She may be among the country's top celebrity endorsers and a hard-working TV talent, hosting the morning show "Kris TV" five days a week, on top of her duties on "The Buzz" and "Aquino & Abunda Tonight."

But actress-host Kris Aquino is still working to ensure the future of sons Joshua Aquino and James "Bimby" Yap Jr.

In her official Instagram account, Aquino revealed that she has decided to buy a franchise of Chowking.

"Future plans' dream about to be fulfilled! I have always believed that with good food from a respected Filipino company, I couldn't go wrong," she wrote in the caption.

Apart from becoming a franchisee, Aquino is also an endorser for the Chinese fast-food chain owned by Jollibee Foods Corp.

She expects to open her restaurant before the end of the year, although it wasn't clear from her post where her Chowking restaurant will be located.

"In getting to know their products, their setup, their 400+ branches and their marketing, I became convinced that it's a good long term investment for my sons and me," she explained.

Aquino said she is current fixing her schedule so she can go on an "immersion" for new store owners.

CHIZ ESCUDERO" SCREENGRAB FROM ABS-CBN VIDEO

MANILA - Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero said his children readily approved of his plans to marry actress Heart Evangelista, his girlfriend of over two years.

In a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Thursday, Escudero said his two kids with former wife Christine Flores welcome the idea of having two mothers.

"You'd be surprised at how mature they [took the news]," he said, narrating a conversation between him and his daughter.

Escudero and Evangelista, who celebrated their second anniversary as a couple last July, will hold their wedding on February 14, 2015 at Balesin Island Club.

The senator was happy to share that he and Evangelista have earned the blessing of the actress parents, Cecile and Rey Ongpauco, who publicly disapproved of their relationship in March 2013.

"They gave their blessing to her and to our union. Papunta doon, not yet here," he said, referring to a reconciliation.

Referring to the Ongpaucos possibly attending their wedding, Escudero added: "That would be ideal. That's Heart's dream, actually. Hopefully, hopefully."
