I let myself go, I allowed myself to get fat and stay fat. Kapuso “royal couple” Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera have confirmed: they will tie the knot on December 30, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City.

The two, who have been engaged since 2012, decided to formally announce it to the public on Marian’s dance show on GMA, a few days before she turned 30 years old.

To Marian’s surprise, what happened wasn’t just a simple declaration of their commitment but Dingdong’s second wedding proposal — this time, in front of Marian’s relatives and the couple’s ever supportive fans.

In an interview with veteran journalist Jessica Soho, Marian said she is glad that they got to share this special occasion with the most important people in their life.

“Mahalaga sila sa amin at mahal namin sila,” she said.

Indeed, people have noticed their on-screen and off-screen chemistry for years. And despite all the controversies and criticisms, they have stood the test of time.

Here are some of love lessons we can pick up from Dingdong and Marian’s real-life love team.

You’ll know love is true when it brings out the best in you

She’s fun-loving. He’s quiet and reserved. But instead of calling them opposites, Dingdong likes to say that they’re complementary.

The Kapuso Primetime King admits that he’s the serious type. Also, he’s not expressive of his feelings, even to his family. But when Marian came along, he slowly adapted to her humor and positivity. He also started to become vocal about his feelings.

For Dingdong, it is one of the most important things he learned from soon-to-be Mrs. Dantes: “Huwag masyadong seryosohin ang lahat ng bagay. Sense of humor sa mga bagay.”

* Of course, Marian is delighted to be a witness of this positive change in Dingdong. “Nagha-hug na rin siya ngayon, nag-a-‘I love you’ na siya,” she added.

Take note of the ‘little things’

Isn’t nice when someone remembers the smallest details about you, even when you don’t remind them of it? Marian thinks so, too.

In fact, it was the reason why she got very emotional during Dingdong’s first wedding proposal, which happened at a butterfly dome in Macau in 2012.

Marian has a fondness for butterflies. Aside from collecting stuff with butterfly designs, she also used to draw butterflies a lot. But she had to set her hobby aside when she became more busy with her showbiz career.

The Kapuso Primetime Queen didn’t expect that of all the things Dingdong would do for the wedding proposal, it would involve her penchant for butterflies.

Make an effort to know your partner’s family

In 2010, Dingdong arranged a trip to Spain with Marian to meet her father. He knew how much Marian wanted to be with her dad, so he went out of his way just to make the trip possible.

By that time, Marian was already sure that Dingdong was the man he was destined to marry. Her father seemed to agree.

Marian also feels lucky because Dingdong has close family ties. For her, it is an indication of what kind of a father he will be someday.

Speaking of family, how many kids do they want in the future? Dingdong didn’t hesitate to answer: “Marami!”

Find time for each other despite the busy schedules

Aside from her numerous endorsements, Marian currently has a self-titled dance show and is part of Eat Bulaga’s Juan For All, All For Juan.

Dingdong, is busy with his primetime soap opera “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real.” He also serves as the National Youth Commission’s commissioner-at-large and is Youth Pinoy’s founding chairman.

Despite their busy schedules, Dingdong and Marian still find time to relax together — even if it just means sharing a simple home-cooked dinner.

In fact, Marian’s version of sinigang na hipon is Dingdong’s favorite.

Before the interview ended, the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Dantes were asked for impromptu wedding vows.

“Sa amin, dumating lang talaga at napag-usapan namin na it’s really time already, right after that proposal.

“Wala naman kaming hinintay na kailangan tapusin or kailangan gawin. Wala naman anything, e.

“Malaking factor na rin yung edad. Pero, I guess, pinakamahalaga sa lahat yung willingness namin to start a family together.

“Yun ang pinakamalaking factor to consider.”

So, yun.

-- Erwin Santiago, PEP

Juday supports ‘depressed’ friend Sharon By Nathalie Tomada (The Philippine Star) | Updated August 22, 2014 - 12:00am 1 0 googleplus0 0

Judy Ann Santos is host of ABS-CBN’s upcoming reality TV show, I Do

MANILA, Philippines - Judy Ann Santos has thrown her full support behind her “ate” Sharon Cuneta who, early this week, publicly admitted that she’s going through “one of the lowest points of my life and career.”

The actress, together with her husband Ryan Agoncillo, visited Sharon on the day the Megastar posted an emotional and lengthy open letter addressed to her fans on Facebook wherein she wrote: “I have let you down. I let myself go, I allowed myself to get fat and stay fat. I became complacent... and I never lost faith in God, and in you, but I ignored the fact that I had lost faith in myself.”

Juday told The STAR and other reporters on the sidelines of the launch of her new reality TV show, I Do, which debuts on ABS-CBN come Aug. 30, that she is happy that Sharon has acknowledged her personal “challenges” and is facing them head-on. “She’s (Sharon) doing okay, she’s coping, she’s trying to work things out. She said in her post that she somewhat underwent a state of depression and state of loneliness.”

She will not be forgotten by the people at all! She has given so much to the industry,” Juday said, recalling her advice to Sharon, with whom she became close after working with her on the movie Magkapatid in 2002. “Also, I told her, let’s face the challenges, don’t shut yourself out of the world. Let’s prepare for that. Tama na ’yon, okay na ’yon. Umiyak ka na, okay na ’yan. Time to act and enjoy life.”

In her post, the 48-year-old Sharon shared that what she’s going through right now is part of the effects of hitting the midlife a few years ago and not knowing how to deal with it, and of worrying over her loved ones, especially her mom Elaine Cuneta, who reportedly has a health condition.

Juday reflected, “Iba-iba rin talaga manakit ang sitwasyon ’no? You can never tell in what form (challenges) will come to you.

While agreeing to media observation that Sharon can be emotional and sentimental, Juday stressed that Sharon is also a strong woman. She added, “Wake-up call din naman ’yan sa kanya... that no one is spared from problems. ’Yung problema niya, kailangan aksyunan.”

* She also asked people not to pass judgment on Sharon’s personal problems. “Let’s be kind naman. We do not have any right to judge any person because we’re not perfect. No actor is perfect. Pero kung perfect sila at kaya nilang mambatikos ng tao, eh, magpakita muna sila bago sila mambatikos ng tao, because words can hurt.”

Juday further stressed, “She’s doing good, she’s doing well. Ang hinihingi niya lang siguro ngayon sa mga tao is understanding and prayers that she will overcome the struggles that she’s experiencing.”

She also revealed that Sharon has already lost weight and is presently very disciplined with her diet. She’s also ready to be part of Sharon’s weight-loss goals in every step of the way. She believes that exercise is an excellent diversion and way to relieve stress.

“I’m happy for her because it came to a point that she has realized and accepted many things. She’s on the road to showing everyone that she’s okay,” Juday said.

Meanwhile, in one of her most recent Facebook posts, Sharon has expressed her gratitude for the words of encouragement from fans and friends in the business. “I am feeling much better now and just wanted you all to know. Because your kind and loving and encouraging messages have filled my heart with joy…Again, thank you so much for your love and support, your patience and understanding. A loved one told me many, many years ago that as long as the people who love you and whom you love know and understand you, that is all that matters.”
