Nikki: It's not necessary to work with ex-BF Billy

MANILA, JULY 21, 2014 (PHILSTAR) By Chuck Smith - She may have already moved on from their breakup, but Nikki Gil said she would choose not to work with ex-boyfriend Billy Crawford if the opportunity arises.

“I don't think it's necessary. I'm really not... When I say showbiz there's that negative connotation to the word, but I cannot kasi because I'm very transparent,” the ABS-CBN talent said during the press launch of the stage musical 'The Last Five Years' on Thursday.

She added, “If I'm not comfortable, the performance might suffer. So I don't think it's necessary.”

The 'Hawak Kamay' star, however, said she'll be professional in case she does have to work with her former beau. The two, after all, work for the same network and are in the same management company.

But she further explained, “We've done a year without having to work with each other so I can think we can continue on doing that.”

“I think sawa na rin ang mga peeps sa balitang nakapag-move na ako. Kumbaga, nanotaryo na natin,” she also said.

The topic of Billy came up during the press conference because of her role in her upcoming stage musical, which begins its run this August at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

In The Last Five Years, Nikki plays Cathy, a struggling actress who tells the story of her failed relationship with Jamie Wellerstein (played by stage actor Joaquin Valdes).

Nikki admits she could relate to Cathy's character—especially after her own separation with Billy—but said she didn't use the breakup experience as fuel for her role.

“I wouldn't say I used it because that would mean it's Nikki onstage and not Cathy. They still have very different experiences and she dealt with things different compared to how I would deal with things,” she explained. “Maybe the hurt gave me that maturity to handle the role, the experience gave me the maturity.”

The 26-year-old actress-singer is very happy with the way her life and career are going. She is also part of the ABS-CBN soap opera Hawak Kamay (premiering July 21, Monday). As for her love life, Nikki previously admitted she is currently seeing a non-showbiz guy exclusively.

“It's less complicated. I'd rather na konti na lang ang opinyon about it rather than have something to think of it. I like the peace and quiet that it brings,” she said of her relationship with her non-showbiz guy.

“I feel like I'm already giving a lot of myself to the public. If I can just keep this to myself, then that would be fantastic,” Nikki added.

“The Last Five Years,” produced by 9Works Productions and directed by Robbie Guevarra, runs from August 9 to August 31.

MANILA, Philippines – After her failed romance with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, it seems like Kris Aquino is giving up on love in the meantime.

At the sidelines of the Yahoo! Celebrity Awards 2014 on Friday, July 18, the TV host-actress said she is content with her career and being the mother to her two sons, Josh and Bimby.

“Give up na, hayaan na lang muna. Parang hindi doon ang swerte,” Kris told members of the press after she received the night's Female TV Host of the Year award.

“As it is now, siguro nasasabi okay ako kasi kailangan pa ako ng mga anak ko. Kasi seven lang si Bimb and nineteen lang si Josh. Siguro kapag hindi na siguro nila ako kailangan, doon ko mafe-feel na sad ang buhay,” she added. “But while I feel needed and loved, it's okay.”

Kris also said, “Okay na ako with my two sons. Okay na ako sa takbo ng career ko. Siguro yun nga ang sinabi ni God, 'Uy, wag ka masyadong maraming hinihingi. Makuntento ka na sa kung anong meron ka'.”

Recently, Kris was linked to TV5 actor Derek Ramsay, who she has described in the past as “a wonderful person.”

“Any girl would be the most blessed girl to have him as a best friend, a boyfriend, a husband or whatever," Kris said in an episode of her late night talk show “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” last June.

* In a previous press conference, Derek said he and Kris are just “best friends.”

Kris explained Derek served as her “sounding board” when she was mending her broken heart.

“Na-feel ko with him na whatever I tell him, nagkakaroon ako ng male perspective. Halos lahat ng close friends ko bakla. Yung pinaka-close ko, di ba, si Vice (Ganda), si Boy (Abunda), tapos yung staff ko, katrabaho ko, lahat, so walang male,” she said.

“Sabi ko nga kay Derek ang swerte ko na siya yung natatangi na alpha male na naging kaibigan ko na pwedeng sabihin sa akin ng diretso na, 'Can you just stop? Stop, don't waste your time, just shut it off',” Kris further explained.

Apart from hosting “Kris TV,” “Aquino and Abunda Tonight,” and “The Buzz,” Kris is working on “Feng Shui 2,” the sequel to her hit 2004 horror film and an entry in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

In an interview with Ryan Bang on Friday, he said that he hasn't met Terrence before but he won't deny that “hindi ako boto kay Terrence.”

“Hindi ako boto kay Terrence kasi nakita ko na nasaktan ang Mommy ko dahil kay Terrence. Nagagalit ako kasi mahal ko ang Mommy ko, ayaw ko siyang masaktan,” he explained.

He then adds that “kung sinuman ang manligaw kay Vice, sana 'yong totoo 'yong nararamdaman kay Vice. Ayaw kong masaktan ang Mommy ko. Kahit sinuman. Magagalit talaga ako.”

'First Girlfriend'

Meanwhile, Ryan Bang's personal life is blooming now that he's on his very first relationship after entering showbiz.

Though he didn't name her, the comedian said his girlfriend studies in Far Eastern University and is on her twenties.

“Mabait po siya, very simple, happy ako kapag kasama ko siya,” he replied when asked what he liked the most about the girl.

Many were surprised about this news since Ryan has been linked with his “Banana Nite” co-star Alex Gonzaga.

During the press conference, Ryan was asked if Alex really turned him down, in which he replied, “hindi naman ako nanligaw todo sa kanya.”

He then adds, “echosera siya ha!

In a separate interview with Ryan, he admits that there are times that he's offended by Alex's jokes. One instance is when Alex told him in “It's Showtime” to “change your parents.”

“Ayaw ko ng gano'ng biro kasi nasasaktan ako,” he said. “Nasasaktan ako kasi… Komedyante ako, hindi ako sensitive sa lahat, pero minsan yung mga biro niya, nasasaktan din [ako].”

But he clarified that “tampuhan lang 'yon, konting konti,” and that he's in good terms now with Alex.

ABOUT VICE GANDA

VICE GANDA (JOSE MARIE BORJA VICERAL)

Jose Marie Borja Viceral (born March 31, 1976), who uses the stage name Vice Ganda, is a Filipino television presenter, endorser, actor, and recording artist. Viceral is a regular host/judge on ABS-CBN’s noontime variety show It's Showtime, and has starred in several films, three of which are considered the highest-grossing films in Philippine cinema.

He is best known for his stand-up routines, in which he uses observational comedy, situational irony and sarcasm in pertaining to Filipino culture and human sexuality. He is also the first openly gay endorser for a major product in the Philippines (Globe Telecom).

Early life
The youngest of five children, Viceral grew up in the neighbourhood along José Abád Santos Street in Manuguit, Tondo, Manila. His father, a barangay captain, was murdered when he was young, prompting his mother to leave the children for work abroad as a caregiver.

He took Political Science at Far Eastern University and became the only man in UAAP history to be the finals MVP in women's division way back in 2003, and at age 19, began writing and performing stand-up comic routines in comedy bars in Ermita, Manila.

Career

Stand-up comedy
Vice started out as a singer, then as a stand-up comedian for Punchline and The Library, whose owner Andrew de Real gave him the stage name “Vice Ganda”. There he spent several years developing his material in the comedy clubs.

Vice’s career began to build after appearances on television and reviews from tabloid columns. He works alongside fellow comedians Chokoleit, Pooh, John Lapus and Rey Kilay.

Television
He appeared in several television series and sitcoms such as Dyosa, under the direction of Wenn V. Deramas. Vice also had another supporting role in the drama series Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik. In 2009, he became part of Showtime, a talent search programme where he eventually gained his present role as a regular presenter/judge.

His life story of being bullied as a young, closeted homosexual has also been featured in the drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya.

Aside from Showtime, he is currently hosting his own Sunday talk show, the consistently top rated Gandang Gabi, Vice!.

Currently, he is under the management of ABS-CBN, and handling him is business unit head Deo Endrinal after being managed for four years by local entertainment columnist/host Ogie Diaz.

Criticism
Viceral's brand of humor has been viewed as polarizing. Much of his comedy style is sarcasm, making fun of current events, and picking on the physical appearance of other people. The latter has fueled much ire from the Filipino audience.

In May 2013, Viceral was widely criticised for making several jokes about gang rape during his I-Vice Ganda Mo Ko! comedy concert show.

One of them was directed towards respected news anchor Jessica Soho, whom he mentioned in a joke regarding several personalities starring in a hypothetical adult movie. Philippine women's rights group GABRIELA condemned the joke as being distasteful in light of rape victims.

GMA reporter Arnold Clavio, a colleague of Soho, defended the news anchor and expressed his disapproval of Vice's remark in one of the former's radio programs.

Although Viceral, initially defended his stance, saying that the brand of humor he uses is based on his roots doing stand-up in comedy bars and karaoke lounges, the comedian eventually issued an apology over the issue during an episode of It's Showtime!.

The greatest Valentine story according to Vice Ganda Friday, February 14, 2014 celebrities, Instagram, ryan bang, Vice Ganda No comments

Vice Ganda posted this photo on his Instagram account @praybeytbenjamin. The flowers, the wine, the sweet message all came from... guess who? Ryan Bang. And through this, Vice Ganda revealed the greatest Valentine story according to him.

Read on...

And of course the sweetest Valentine gift came from my sweetest son @dryanbang !!!

The first time i met Ryan i saw a poor Korean boy who was lost in the middle of a crazy showbiz world without any friend, without any idea of what to do, what to say, what to be and what was happening around him.

* I kept him company.
Shared with him the little things i knew.
Showed him some of the things he had to see.
Explained to him some of the things he had to understand.
Taught him few of the things he had to learn.
Shared with him some of the simple things i have. Like my clothes. My car. My house. My room. My mind. My heart.
I took care of him.
Now, he's the one taking care of me.
He looks after me when im sick.
Stays in bed with me till im well.
Surprises me with presents. (most of the time cheap stuff, but its the thought).
Laughs with me when im crazy.
Cries with me when im lonely.
Checks me if im home.
And makes sure im not alone.
He's my clown. He's my biggest fan. My bodyguard. My confidant. My bestfriend.

Im his mother. He's my son. All this time i was just building friendship and good company.

But together we were able to create a happy family. With or without a boyfriend i will never be lonely. Coz I have my Ryan who will always be my baby. And for me this is the greatest Valentine story.
