(PHILSTER) By Chuck Smith - Lorna Tolentino admits she received an offer to run as a councilor in Quezon City during the 2010 elections. However, then and now, the Kapuso star said she’s not interested in politics.

“(Politics) is not really for me,” the 51-year-old actress said during the press launch of GMA-7’s upcoming primetime drama “Genesis” on Tuesday, October 8.

The Kapuso actress added it’s more likely for her sons—Ralph and Renz Fernandez—to run for office, although she’d prefer if they succeed in show business instead.

Politics was brought up because of Lorna’s role in “Genesis.” In GMA-7’s first sci-fi drama, Lorna plays Sandra Sebastian-Trinidad, the president of the country tasked to face Earth’s looming downfall.

“Genesis” also stars Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos as the show’s lead stars.

“How can I say no to the role,” Lorna said. “Never mangyayar sa buhay ko yan. E di magampanan ko man lamang!”

Here are cast photos of GMA-7's "Genesis," which will premiere on Monday, October 14.

Equal reciprocation

On the issue of the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund, Lorna said she, like everyone else, would want to know where her taxes go.

“Kasi lahat tayo, nagbabayad ng tax. Syempre, gusto natin nakikita natin kung saan napupunta yung binabayad natin. Malaking bagay yung nawawala sa ating pinaghirapan na trabaho, tapos hindi natin nakikita kung saan napupunta,” she said.

She also remains supportive to Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla, the two senators who are allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam. Jinggoy ang Bong are friends of Lorna. Her late husband Rudy Fernandez was among the best buddies of Jinggoy and Bong as well.

“Sabi ko sa kanila, andito lang kami, yung family namin. Kasi yung pinagsamahan namin, hindi naman yung kami,” Lorna said. “Nung maliliit pa yung mga anak nila at maliliit pa yung mga anak namin, magkakasama na kami.”

The two, Lorna explained, “were really there” when her husband Rudy passed away due to cancer in 2008. “Never nilang iniwanan (si Rudy). Never silang tumalikod kahit na ano,” she said. “Equal reciprocation lang yun. Kung ano yung pinakita sa iyo, yun din ipapakita mo sa kanila.”

MANILA, Philippines - “I sincerely hope so.”

Thus Dingdong Dantes said when asked if he thinks girlfriend Marian Rivera is “the one” during the press conference for the Star Cinema movie “She’s The One.”

The press conference, which was held at the ABS-CBN compound, Quezon City on Monday, Oct. 7, was also streamed live on the Star Cinema website.

There have been constant talks of Marian and Dingdong planning to get married this year. But for her part, in an interview with press during her contract signing with Talk ‘N Text last week, Marian said she would want to focus on her career first.

“Trabaho muna. Ang daming oportunindad,” Marian said when asked if she’s already planning to settle down with Dingdong.

“Kaya nauudlot, tanong kayo nang tanong,” the Kapuso actress said in jest.

Dingdong himself is on a roll when it comes to his career. His GMA-7 primetime show “Genesis” will premiere next week. His movie “She’s The One,” which also stars Bea Alonzo, will also premiere soon.

“She’s The One” is Dingdong’s third movie with Star Cinema, following “Segunda Mano” and “One More Try.”

“Nagkataon lang talaga na swerte lang dahil sa unang pelikula ko na ginawa ko (with Star Cinema), nabuksan nang buksan yung opportunities,” he said.

Dingdong hopes other Kapuso stars get the opportunity to work with Kapamilya artists, and vice versa.

“Syempre, we can explore each other’s talents kung saan man. We can maximize everyone’s talents,” he said.

Marian Rivera surprised fans when she signed up for an Instagram account early this year. The Kapuso actress said her posts on Instagram are “personal,” as they are meant to reveal the “real Marian.”

In an intimate interview with members of the press during her contract signing with telecom company Talk ‘N Text (she’s been their endorser since 2009), she said, “Happy ako kasi nakikita ng ibang tao yung personality ko through Instagram, e.”

Marian’s Instagram account (the actress now has more than 300,000 followers) is filled with photos from her showbiz engagements, inspirational quotes, and moments with boyfriend Dingdong Dantes.
