Dolphy was admitted to the Makati Medical Center early Saturday morning, the veteran actor's right-hand man Rene Pascual confirmed to Yahoo! News.

While netizens on Thursday expressed concern over his ailing condition, Dolphy's son Eric Quizon, in an image post tweeted by the Comedy King's long-time partner Zsa Zsa Padilla, said his father's "vitals are all in order," but added that he is still under intensive care.

"My Dad was sent to the hospital last Saturday because of pneumonia. This made him weak because of his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They had to attach a respirator in order to help him breathe.

"Currently, his vitals are all in order and he is responding to treatment very well. However, he is still under close observation and round-the-clock intensive care to make sure he recovers well," Eric said.

The actor also thanked Dolphy's followers who continue to pray for his well-being.

"On behalf of our family, thank you for your love and prayers," Eric said.

Dolphy, who will turn 85 on July 25, has been struggling with a faltering immune system, Padilla confirmed in February.

In April, the Comedy King in a taped message thanked the public, especially his fans, for continuing to pray for his recovery.
