MANILA, FEBRUARY 26 2012 (MANNILA TIMES) Written by : Ed Uy Staff Writer - and Kris Aquino acknowledge they are both single at the moment.

HE might have worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry and countless other international celebrities, but Black Eyed Peas member Allan Pineda Lindo aka looked quite stunned by the statements made by TV host/actress Kris Aquino.

The two celebrities formally signed an endorsement contract with San Miguel Beer (SMB) on February 20 at the San Miguel Corporation head office in Ortigas Center.

Present during the event were SMB president Roberto N. Huang, SVP and marketing manager Menlou Bibonia, and the San Miguel Pale Pilsen brand team led by AVP and group brand manager Erik Riola and brand manager Joemar Climaco.

Huang said that Apl and San Miguel Pale Pilsen make a perfect match with the two sharing similar attributes – iconic, world-class, and proudly Filipino.

The country’s Queen of all Media praised Apl for his continuing advocacies, and said she was very happy to be doing a San Miguel Beer commercial with him.

“I am just flattered to be in a commercial with you (Apl), so thank you for doing this and thank you for doing so much good for the country,” Kris first greeted the international superstar before catching him off guard with the question, “Are you single? Because I am single now.”

To which the BEP singer could only mutter “Yes,” which elicited a loud reaction from the reporters covering the event.

“I am really excited to be in this commercial because I grew up in Pampanga watching you on TV, and now I’ll be doing a commercial with you, so I am really excited. I gotta bring my acting skills,” Apl told Kris.

“Apl ha magkaedad lang tayo ha, I think we’re just the same age I just started really young,” Kris quickly countered smiling.

The President’s sister also looked noticeably slimmer, saying she had been observing a strict diet because of the commercial.

“I don’t want to look fat beside Apl, so I’ve been on JuJu cleansing diet for the past five days. I’m cold already, and I’m having the shakes because of the lack of nutrients,” she explained.

Kris said even all her celebrity friends were excited about her commercial. “Most of my friends are really jaded about who we work with and this is the first time everybody said, ‘Really? Wow!’ Many fellow celebrities were even asking if they could drop by and get a picture with him. So parang I said I gotta look my best.

“So I’ll celebrate after the shoot—we (looking at Apl) can celebrate after the shoot,” Kris went on.

Shocked and shy In an interview after the contract signing, Apl admitted to being caught by surprise by Kris’ statements.

“Wow I was really shocked. You know, I haven’t gotten shy in a while and I was like, oh my gosh I can’t believe it’s Kris Aquino. She’s like an iconic lady, very beautiful and very smart.”

Is Kris her type?

“Yeah, she’s my type.”

He was then asked about the other “K,” or KC Concepcion, who was also linked to him in the past, and incidentally has just become single again.

“She’s single?” Apl asked adding that they have remained good friends are always trying to help each other out.

Has he talked to her recently? “We text.”

Taking a break from BEP Aside from doing the SMB commercial and partnering with the San Miguel Foundation to help build more classrooms in public schools, the Filipino-American hip-hop artist said he is also busy working on a solo album.

The new album will feature collaborations with another Fil-Am and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Bruno Mars, international Pinay pop star Charice, and the Pinoy YouTube discovery Arjohn Gilbert.

Apl said he met Arjohn while doing the music video for “We can be Everything.” He overheard Arjohn singing during the break and said he sounded really good. He added that he’s also willing to write songs for Filipino artists like Arjohn.

With the Black Eyed Peas taking a break, Apl said it gives him time to do his own side projects. “I’ll be here more often, I’ve got a lot of projects going on here and even last year, I was pretty much here almost every month, and I want to keep doing that to watch over my projects.”

Plans of holding a solo concert in the country?

“Oh yeah definitely. I just got to do my album first,” he promised.
