ETHEL RAMOS -( ‘But not soon. –Jason Francisco’)

WILL the movie, "The Adventures of Pureza, Queen of the Riles," finally pave the way to full stardom of Melai Cantiveros?

Melai is playing the title role in the upcoming comedy film from Star Cinema and SineScreen.

She is working with her real-life boyfriend, Jason Francisco, as her leading man.

Melai and Jason’s romance began to blossom in the Pinoy Big Brother’s house.

Melai emerged the grand winner of "PBB Double Up," while Jason won third place.

"Perfect match sila as a comedy team," said Soxy Topacio, who directed "The Adventures of Pureza, Queen of the Riles."

"Surprisingly, they both managed to deliver their characters in the film… They were perfect for the characters assigned to them."

In the movie, Melai portrays the role of Pura, a bubbly and hardworking orphan who wants nothing but only the best for her beloved brother, Ulam, and uplift their dismal life.

In all her endeavors, Pura’s best friend Ruben, acted by Jason, has always been by her side.

Pura and Ruben then stumble into an opportunity to usher a Brazilian model that suddenly disappeared in a fashion show. With this unfortunate turn of events, Pura steps into the role of the model and uses the name Pureza Mayriles.

This is where, according to Direk Soxy, Melai’s inherent comedy talent is tested.

With his talent also as a comedy actor, Direk Soxy said they successfully managed to make the movie truly riotous and bellyaching.

He said the film contains jokes that will keep viewers laughing from beginning to end.

Joining the cast is Pokwang, who plays Pura’s long-lost mother, along with Joem Bascon and Mico Antonio.

Aside from doing the movie, "The Adventures of Pureza, Queen of the Riles," Melai is also busy working with her new reality show on ABS-CBN titled "I Dare You."

Melai is co-hosting the program with Jericho Rosales and Iya Villania.

According to Melai, the show was literally the fulfillment of a dream she once had.

"I was a typical fan of Echo then… Way back when I was still a student in General Santos City," she revealed.

"Dream ko talaga to meet him in person at makamayan man lang siya. Tapos, heto at makaka-trabaho ko pa siya ngayon."

"I Dare You" is one of the three regular shows Melai now has under ABS-CBN. She is also doing "Happy, Yipee, Yehey" and "Banana Split."

With three regular shows and a movie, you must be earning a lot, we kidded Melai. Can you still count your money? "Opo naman," she quickly answered. "Sa totoo lang, parang dumadaan lang sa palad ko ang aking kinikita."

"Just like Jason, I also send a monthly allowance to my family in the province."

Jason, on the other hand, said in a separate interview that he is serious with Melai and plans to marry her in the future. "But not soon," he specified.

"Melai and I both have priorities in life that we need to fulfill. We both came from a poor family. Kung baga, ngayon lang kami nakakatikim ng kaunting ginhawa pati na rin ang aming pamilya."

"Melai is also aware of my dream to have a house of my own, for my family. Hopefully, matupad ito next year. Nabili ko na ang lupang patatayuan ng aming bahay."

"Alam din namin ni Melai na hindi pang-habang panahon kung anuman meron kami ngayon. That’s why, we are taking every opportunity that comes our way now. Dapat din, individually, i-prepare namin ang aming sarili for the so-called rainy days."
