MARIO BAUTISTA (‘KC says there’s no chance that she and Sam could have a romantic relationship now, since she and Piolo are definitely still together.’)

IT’S COMMON knowledge that KC Concepcion’s last film, "I’ll Be There," with her dad Gabby and Jericho Rosales bombed at the tills. So, the result of her new movie, "Forever and A Day," will be crucial for her.

Star Cinema is obviously supporting her by pairing her with their numero uno box office director, Cathy Garcia-Molina and with Sam Milby as her leading man. All of Sam’s films with Cathy were hits.

There’s some attempt to make it appear that her relationship with Piolo Pascual is on the rocks because of Sam, probably to help promote their movie, but KC is not playing along.

KC says there’s no chance that she and Sam could have a romantic relationship now, since she and Piolo are definitely still together. "But Sam and I have been close friends even before we did the movie," she says. "Sa set nga, lagi kaming nagkukuwentuhan, kaya pinaglayo kami ni Direk Cathy… Maingay daw kami. Nagkikita na lang kami kapag take na."

She seems to have lost weight. "Yes, 16 lbs. so far." What did she do? "I am into the Cathy Molina diet. Fear na mapagalitan niya ako. So, I eat only fish, no carbs."

She plays Raffy, a girl who thinks her life is peaceful, until she finds out that her days are numbered. "Marami akong fears in the story and it’s Sam who teaches me to be strong. So, we try doing white water rafting and zipline in Bukidnon. Marami kaming ginawa dito na ngayon ko lang ginawa sa buhay ko. I want to thank Direk Cathy for guiding me all the way in exploring my character na minahal ko talaga."

JACKIE RICE confesses that she had second thoughts in doing her love scene with Dominic Roco in "Sisid." Is it because she worries that her non-showbiz BF will complain about it? "No, he’s very supportive at hindi siya nakikialam sa career ko," she says. "I worried more about myself since I’ve never done a love scene before. E, mahirap pa itong eksena namin kasi nasa tubig kami. I’m just thankful that our director, Ricky Davao, is also an actor, so he knew how to motivate me. He said gusto niya mala-‘Blue Lagoon’ ni Brooke Shields ang eksena. Sabi ko, Direk, hindi ko naabutan ‘yun kaya ‘di ko alam. So, he explained it to me – in detail – what he envisions me to do at nakuha ko naman."

"Tapos, gusto niya mapapaluha ako during the love scene dahil nga ibibigay ko ‘yung pagkababae ko kay Dominic. Nagawa ko rin naman ng maayos. Gusto pa nga ipaulit ni Dom. Sabi ko, ‘wag na! Ano ka, sinusuwerte?"

"Sisid" is now on its third week and they’re all happy that its first two weeks rating were very high. "Kabado kami noon, kasi naiiba ito from other afternoon dramas. We’re glad all of our hard work has paid off. Hindi biro ‘yung location namin sa Batangas na six hours ang layo from Manila. Back and forth kami dito for our tapings. Then, may underwater scenes pa that is also time consuming."

"I have a feeling na mas tataas pa rating namin ngayon. Paganda na ng paganda ang mga scenes namin dito. Maraming tutol sa forbidden love ko as Eden with Dom as Sig. Unang-una na ang aming respective parents. Then, si JC Tiuseco as Ahmed na gusto akong pakasalan. Dahil dito, yayayain na ako ni Dom na magtanan at mag-sarili na lang kami. Marami kaming daraanang pagsubok. Babagyuhin ‘yung barkong sasakyan namin, pero makakarating naman kami sa Maynila."

ANGELICA PANGANIBAN has been reported to be so annoyed with Erich Gonzales,’ who was being linked to her BF Derek Ramsay.

She even alluded to Erich as "mang-aagaw ng boyfriend" after it was reported that Derek introduced Erich to his mom. But Derek explained that his mom is a fan of Erich and asked him if she could meet her. So he told Erich about it and she agreed to see her mom.

The issue affected other ABS-CBN stars like Kim Chiu, who was suspected of squealing to Angelica about the burgeoning relationship of Derek and Erich.

Before things got worse, Star Magic arranged an intimate meeting for all of them to straighten things out.

They all had a heart-to-heart talk and it was made clear that Erich has no intentions of snatching Derek from Angelica.

So, everything worked out all right. All’s well that ends well. But they are now prevented from bringing up the issue again especially to press people.

POLO RAVALES says that he got an offer to move to ABS-CBN. "My manager (Manny Valera) got it after Sid Lucero moved to GMA-7," he says.

"We had a meeting with them and told us that they have a show for me, but I decided to stay with GMA kasi dito ako nag-start. I was only 15 years old when they cast me in ‘TGIS’ and ‘Anna Karenina’."

"Ang dami ng nagbago sa GMA since then. ‘Pag nanonood ako ng ‘Party Pilipinas’, hindi ko na kakilala iyong iba."

"Now, I’m turning 29 on June 27 and I want to see muna the upcoming offers of GMA to me before I decide to transfer. Right now, maganda naman ang role ko in ‘Sinner or Saint’ as an investigative reporter na siyang tutulong kay Bianca King to prove that she’s innocent of the crime that sent her to jail," Polo says.

"Ngayon lang ako ulit nagkaroon ng ganitong regular show after ‘Panday Kids’ last year. After that kasi puro guestings lang ako in ‘Machete’ and ‘Magic Palayok’."

Does he enjoy working with his ex-GF, Alessandra de Rossi, in "Sinner or Saint?" "Yes, wala namang problema kasi we parted as friends. Besides, most of my scenes are with Bianca. I just don’t know kung magkakaroon kami ng eksena ni Alex dito."

HAJJI ALEJANDRO was the original "Kilabot ng mga Colegiala" at the height of his singing career in the early 70s. He was so hot then that he was even paired with Nora Aunor in "Panakip Butas." After four decades, he remains very active and now tries musical theatre playing Zoser, Egypt’s chief minister in Atlantis Productions’ hit Broadway musical, "Aida," written by Elton John and Tim Rice. The play will run from June 24 to July 10 at RCBC Theatre in Makati.

In "Aida," he will get a chance to work with his eldest daughter, Rachel, who plays Princess Amneris. "The last time I did theatre was more than 10 years ago in the late Nick Joaquin’s ‘Larawan’ at CCP," he says.

"I’ve seen the plays of Atlantis with my daughter Rachel like ‘Avenue Q’ and ‘Xanadu’ and I really like to work with them. So, when they offered me ‘Aida,’ I had no second thoughts in accepting it. Besides, I also like to work with my daughter, Rachel."

"But in this play, my son here is DJ Myke Salomon as Radames. I want him to marry Rachel as Princess Amneris, but instead he falls in love with slave Adia played by Ima Castro. Ako ang kontrabida sa kanila. I have two production numbers with the cast that are real show stoppers."

Is it true that he had a gap with the group of Rico Puno and Marco Sison, that’s why, he’s no longer part of their gigs? "No, nagpaalam ako sa kanila ng maayos. Kasi we’ve been together for seven years na and I felt we’re losing our individualities dahil lagi na lang kaming package deal. But we’ve all remained friends and I’m open to do shows with them."

How was his son with the late Rio Diaz, Ali? "I’m so proud of him. He just finished fine arts at the Kalayaan College and a magna cum laude. His uncle Charlie Cojuangco recently opened an art gallery and he’s now managing it, but his still active with two bands, including Mojofly as a drummer. He’s really a musician."
