MANILA, MAY 9, 2011 (MALAYA) MARIO BAUTISTA (‘Up to now, we’re still good friends. – Vic Sotto’) - VIC Sotto’s sitcom, ‘Darling Kong Aswang,’ has expired and it’ll be replaced starting this May 15 by the new edition of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

"TV5 is bringing ‘Millionaire’ back on the air with some changes meant to further improve the show and make it more fun and exciting. Out na ‘yung fastest fingers para mas mabilis ang pacing. Contestants can now join through mall auditions and also avail of more lifelines to help them out in giving the right answers. Aside from 50-50 and Phone a Friend, we now have People Speak where members of the studio audience themselves can help and win up to P20,000, and Switch that entitles the contestant to switch the original question for another one of the same price or value."

Vic celebrated his 57th birthday on April 28 and TV5 made an audio-visual presentation for him showing his children, other relatives and his friends greeting him. We were surprised to see that Vic’s other kids, Vico (with Coney Reyes as mom) and Paulina (with Paula Luz as mom) are now grownups. "Vico just graduated from Ateneo majoring in political science at accepted na siya sa UP College of Law this June. Si Paulina naman just finished high school and will take up Com Arts at Ateneo. Magaling siya mag-paint like her lolo (Arturo Luz)."

He and Pia Guanio were said to be so sweet together when they did "Eat! Bulaga" in Vancouver.

"Ano naman ang masama roon? Up to now, we’re still good friends."

Is it true his new girlfriend is a stewardess?

"Yung stewardess, matagal na ‘yun, bago pa si Pia. ‘Yung mga balita, they just got mixed up."

Angel Locsin wants to downplay her alleged romance with Azkals football player Phil Younghusband who allegedly surprised her by following her to Hong Kong last Good Friday, April 22, then gave her an expensive Diane Von Furstenberg handbag when she celebrated her birthday on April 23. They were with Angel’s good friend, Bubbles Paraiso. On her actual birthday, Angel chose to spend it at the Golden Acres Home for the Aged, bringing food and entertaining the senior citizens there. Phil was with her there again but if you’d ask Angel what’s the real score between them, all she’d say is that "he simply makes me happy."

It’s understandable for her to downplay her romance with Phil as she’s promoting her movie with Aga Muhlach, "In the Name of Love." This might alienate prospective viewers of the movie. But Angel admits that they exchange text messages frequently and that Phil visits her at home and has met her whole family. She appreciates this very much, his being brave enough to face all her family members.

"In the Name of Love" is a romantic drama and Angel plays Cedes, a young woman torn between two lovers: Dylan (Jake Cuenca), the governor’s son to whom she is engaged, and Emman (Aga Muhlach), the former dance instructor who is hired to choreograph her dance number with Dylan in the Governor’s Ball. Complications occur when Cedes falls for Emman and their lives will be changed forever. This is directed by Olivia Lamasan, who also co-wrote the script with Enrico Santos.

Ogie Alcasid denies the story that his and wife Regine’s first baby will be a boy. "I don’t know where they got that kasi ‘yung mismong OB namin hindi pa alam," he laughs. "Although I admit gusto ko ring magka-baby boy dahil I already have two daughters, hindi pa makikita sa ultrasound kung ano ang gender ng baby namin kasi two months pa lang siya. Siguro masyadong excited ang ibang tao for us kaya nauna na silang mag-announce na boy ang magiging baby namin. For us, though, boy man or girl, blessing ‘yun from the Lord kaya tatanggapin namin nang masayang-masaya."

As for Regine, she now hardly goes out of their house. "Lumalabas lang siya kung magpapa-check up sa doctor. Most of the time, she’s just resting to make sure the baby will be safe and sound in her womb."

It’s said Regine is now so conscious of her looks as she gained a lot of weight after eating everything she wants to eat. The pounds she gained are very noticeable especially on her hips and her face. "Feeling niya ang lapad-lapad na niya kaya hindi na raw siya dapat tawaging Songbird kundi Big Bird," says our source.

Heart Evangelista is the most sickly among the cast members of "Temptation Island." She wasn’t able to join us in the dinner hosted by Gov. Imee Marcos as she wasn’t feeling well. "I’ll just rest so I can shoot tomorrow," she said. The next day, on the film’s set at the scorching sand dunes, her nose bled while we were having lunch in the tent for cast members, so the resumption of the shoot was a bit delayed. "Sa init siguro," Heart said.

Heart said she saw the original film at the home of Solenn Heussaff. "That was even before Solenn joined showbiz. We’ve known each other for a long time. We both didn’t know na one day, magkakasama pala kami sa remake nito. Our friends really love ‘Temptation Island,’ kaya I really want to be part of the remake especially now that they gave me the role of the virgin originally played by Dina Bonnevie."

Does shooting in the sand dunes remind her of someone else?

"Oh yes. Pero ang tagal na noon."

We’re referring to Jericho Rosales, with whom she got hooked while they were shooting "Ang Panday" in Ilocos as a TV series. Now, she has a new leading man, Aljur Abrenica. How is it working with him? "Sobrang bait. Sa kissing scene namin, sabi ko, Aljur, don’t open your mouth, ha. Sabi naman niya, yes, ma’am. Gentleman siya."

Will her boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga get jealous?

"Bakit? Nauna pa nga siya sa’kin. He had kissing scenes before with Kris Bernal, so okay lang. Actually, nagulat sina Direk Chris Martinez and Ms. Roselle Monteverde when they watched the rushes, ang ganda raw pala ng chemistry namin ni Aljur on screen. I really enjoy making this film kasi magkakasundo kaming lahat nina Solenn, Marian Rivera, Lovi Poe and Rufa Mae Quinto. They say magkakaroon ng patalbugan sa set, paseksihan, but nothing like that happened. Walang competition. Walang pa-star. Masaya kaming lahat and everyone cooperates to make sure this will be a good movie."

Richard Gutierrez was taping for "Captain Barbell" everyday last week until he left for Las Vegas last Thursday to watch the Pacquiao vs. Mosley match at the MGM Grand Arena.

"Okay lang kung wala akong pahinga these days," he says. "Sa States na lang ako babawi ng rest and sleep. Bonding time din ‘yun ng family naming kasama ko kasi sina mom and dad and my brothers. Si Ate Ruffa lang ang wala sa amin as she’s busy with her shows here."

He wants to thank all those who follow "Captain Barbell." "Marami talagang nanonood at very positive ang feedback kahit nung mga nanonood sa GMA Pinoy TV abroad, kaya naman kahit mainit ngayon at dusa talaga mag-action scenes with all of us in our respective costumes, tinitiis naming sa ikagaganda lang ng show. Marami pang mangyayari sa story kaya ‘wag silang bibitaw. We have new villains in Akihiro Sato and Paolo Paraiso at papasok din si Jennylyn Mercado as a woman who’ll take Jillian Ward away from me. Si Bea Binene naman as Misha will suspect that her brother Mike Tan as Teban is actually the villain Anino."

It’s said he has found a new girlfriend who, like Solenn Heussaff, is Filipino-French and they’ll be together in the US. "Like what I said, parents ko’t mga kapatid ang kasama ko, wala ng iba."
