MANILA, JANUARY 23, 2010 (BULLETIN) By JOJO P. PANALIGAN - Concert King and Queen Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez will lock lips in the opening VTR for their upcoming Valentine’s concert “One Amore Time.”
Concert producer Mae Vinluan-Dolonius revealed this to Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online during the VTR shoot held at her house in Tagaytay Highlands on Jan. 21.
“I told Martin and Pops that the kissing scene is warranted by the Spanish-Mexican teleserye concept of the concert. Being the professionals that they are, they readily agreed to it,” she said.
Mae added that Pops even joked that she had kissed her ex-husband Martin before that’s why she sees no problem doing it again, considering that she's had such scenes with other actors for her movie and TV projects.
“They understand that we want to feature them as more mature performers than before not only in terms of songs, but through sexier clothes and production numbers,” said she.
Will the two also kiss during the concert?
“People will just have to watch the show to find out,” said Mae.
Fans of Martin and Pops will also find the the storyline of the VTR titillating: that of a philandering husband caught by her wife while he’s canoodling with another woman.
It is recalled that Martin and Pops were rumored to have broken up because of a third wheel on Martin’s part. Although Martin did not admit to it at the time, he recently hinted on something to that effect in a recent interview on “Startalk.”
When asked what advice Martin could give to married couple Kris Aquino and James Yap, who are now in the headlines due to rumors of Kris’ altercation with James’ alleged girlfriend, the singer talked from experience, saying, “I wasn’t honest, I was unfaithful. If you don’t wanna get burned, stay out of the fire.”
Mae, however, insisted that the storyline is but typical teleserye fare.
“Besides, Martin and Pops are okay with the storyline,” she said.
In “One Amore Time,” the two singers will perform no less than 10 duets, each of which will be a medley of love songs they have not sung before. The two will have only two solo spots---one of which is Martin's “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before.”
Uh-huh.
“They were the ones who chose their songs!” Mae said, laughing. “Anyway, it’s not as if they don’t banter good-naturedly about their past. They have so moved on from that part of their lives and they are now very good friends.”
“One Amore Time” will be held at SMX Convention Center on Feb. 14 under the production of Mauve Management and Entertainment.
