MANILA, NOVEMBER 14, 2009 (MALAYA) STUDIO WHISPERS by ETHEL RAMOS - (‘Regal Entertainment had to prepare about 100 well-designed attires for 75 of the sequences where she is included in the movie.’)

AFTER two years of romance, John Prats and Shaina Magdayao are still happily in love.

They both hope it will remain so, until they are both ready for marriage.

And when will this be? we once asked Shaina.

"Siguro, in 10 years," she replied. "By then, I’ll be 30."

Shaina just marked a birthday and guess what John surprised her with.

"A get-together with all of their friends in attendance," Shaina herself answered the question. "And what’s lovely about the gathering is that John’s family was behind it.

"Kaya they were able to invite many of our mutual friends. Na di puwedeng gawin ni John on his own, since always together nga kami, lalo na lately."

John is also in his 20s, too. And, like Shaina, he is, busy with his career.

Shaina is in the new series, "Ruby," with Angelica Panganiban playing the title role.

She was one of the two lead stars in the recently cancelled fantasy series, "Kambal sa Uma," with Melissa Ricks, playing her twin sister.

John is in the gag show, "Banana Split," aired daily on ABS-CBN. He has another show on TV 5.

When the group of Mother Lily Monteverde leaves for Beijing, China late next week to shoot some scenes in her film firm’s (Regal Entertainment) Metro Manila Film Festival offering in December, "Mano Po 6, My Mother," they will be about 70 people. And these include the stars of "Mano Po 6," such as Sharon Cuneta and Heart Evangelista, the production stars, the crew, Direk Joel Lamangan and members of the entertainment press, a number of whom are members of the so-called Wednesday group.

They will be away for two weeks.

The film marks many firsts, especially for Mother Lily.

It is the first time that Sharon Cuneta is doing a movie with Regal. And Mother Lily doesn’t deny she had always wanted Sharon to do a movie with Regal.

Likewise, "Mano Po 6" marks Heart’s first experience to do a Regal film. But what excites her, according to Heart, is that she will also, for the first time, be working with Sharon.

The first time she faced the cameras with Sharon, Heart was nervous. "Pero ang bait ni Tita Mega," she stated. "In no time, relaks na relaks na ako sa kanya.

"Yet I have no idea how I’d react sa confrontation scene namin. Based on the script, mahirap ang eksena.

"Pero, sana, kayanin ko."

Also in the movie, but whose scenes will only be shot here are Christopher de Leon, Dennis Trillo, Ciara Sotto and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

Now it can be told that one aspect about Heart which convinced Mother Lily and her daughter, Roselle Teo, to have her do the coveted role of Sharon’s daughter in "Mano Po 6" is her Chinese lineage.

The Ongpaucos (Heart’s real surname is Ongpauco) are part Chinese. Hence, Heart’s pair of chinky-eyes.

The other members of the cast with Chinese blood running in their veins are Dennis (Trillo), whose real name is Abelardo Dennis Ho and Nicole Uysiuseng, who plays Sharon’s other daughter in the movie.

Nicole was a participant in the last "Pinoy Big Brother: Teens."

Sharon plays a half-Chinese mestiza, who is married to Christopher de Leon, an ethnic Chinese in "Mano Po 6."

Boyet (as Christopher is fondly called) defies Chinese tradition to marry Sharon.

As a rich matron, Sharon is set to wear elegant costumes. Regal Entertainment had to prepare about 100 well-designed attires for 75 of the sequences where she is included in the movie.

Some scenes of Sharon, with her wearing an elegant gown, will be shot in tourist spots in Beijing, including the posh Shanghai Tang.
