DIANA ZUBIRI GETS BACK AT PAOLO
MANILA, JUNE 2, 2008 (MALAYA) DREAM FACTORY by MARIO BAUTISTA ('There's a scene in "Baba-ngon" where she cuts off Paolo Contis' manhood for raping her.')ON THE set of "Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita" where he plays Lawrence, an undercover agent who is JC De Vera's rival over the love of Yasmien Kurdi, Patrick Garcia says he doesn't like to talk or make any comment about Jennylyn Mercado anymore.
"I do care about our baby, but each time I say something, parang minamasama pa so I'd rather not talk at all na lang," he says. "I tried my best to get in touch with her pero siya na ang may ayaw. I'm just praying that in due time, we can still be friends for the sake of the baby."
He's determined to go to the States and study filmmaking in New York.
"I won't be acting forever so I want to have formal training on how to work behind the camera."
In "Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita," he has finally professed his love for Yasmien as Salve after JC as Derek tried to make her believe that he doesn't love her anymore. As a cop, he's also slowly laying the grounds to expose the jueteng operations of the Perantes family. Because of this, their capitalist allies are starting to doubt Derek's capability in running their operations. Paolo Contis as Tyrone takes advantage of this and tells Jay Aquitania as Juno to get rid of Derek.

Diana Zubiri is thankful that even before "Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita" has ended, she's already starting to tape her new assignment from GMA-7, the remake of Danny Zialcita's "Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan."
"I will play the role originally played by Miss Hilda Koronel in the movie," she says. "Siempre, kabado ako as I saw the movie on DVD at talagang ang galing-galing niya. Sunshine Dizon will be playing naman the role of Miss Vilma Santos at si Marvin Agustin ang gaganap sa role ni Mr. Dindo Fernando. This is the third soap namin ni Marvin after 'Asian Treasures' and 'Babangon,' pero ngayon pa lang kami gaganap bilang mag-asawa. Happy naman ako to work with Sunshine again kasi after we played sisters with Iza Calzado and Karylle in 'Encantadia,' naging best of friends na talaga kaming apat."
She says she will miss her role as Julie in "Babangon Ako." "It's a difficult role kasi may pagkalukring ako rito after I was raped by Paolo Contis at ngayon, naghihiganti ako kay Dina Bonnevie dahil sa ginawa nila sa akin at kay Ian de Leon who plays my true love in the story. I'll be the one to reveal to Dina the truth that JC De Vera is not really her son but that of her enemy, Glydel Mercado."
Is it true she and Ian de Leon really went steady?
"No. Naging very close lang kami while doing 'Zaido' and people concluded na kami na nga when we're just good friends."
There's a scene in "Babangon" where she cuts off Paolo Contis' manhood for raping her.
"Ay naku, that's one of the most talked-about scenes in the show. Kahit saan ako magpunta, people ask me kung malaki raw ba o maliit. I tell them wala na akong itinira after putulin ko."

Just as her shooting for "My Monster Mom" is ending, Ruffa Gutierrez quickly gets another acting job, that of Daniella in ABS-CBN's "Betty La Fea" with Bea Alonzo in the title role. This is the role played to bitchy perfection by Vanessa Williams in the hit American version, "Ugly Betty," and knowing Ruffa, it's something that's really up her alley since she's an international beauty queen.
"I'm excited to do this role as I will do it like a fashion show where I get to wear all my fabulous clothes, jewelry, shoes, bag and other accessories," sa Ruffa.
Bea herself is thankful that she accepted the role. "She's just perfect as Daniella and I really love it that she was the one chosen," she says.
It will be recalled that when Ruffa joined the Miss World pageant, one of the judges then was Vanessa Williams who asked her: "What advice would you give ugly girls?" And here's Ruffa now being a part of a TV show about an ugly girl that Vanessa also did in the States. What a coincidence, isn't it?

In 1952, National Artist for Film Gerardo de Leon made "Sisa," a movie based on the immortal character of a mother who went mad looking for her missing sons in our national hero's novel, "Noli Me Tangere." It is now considered a classic with Anita Linda giving a tour de force performance in the title role.
"Sisa" was later resurrected again by Mario O'Hara in a drastically different version where Sisa (Aya Medel) had an affair with Jose Rizal (Gardo Versoza).
On June 12, as we celebrate our 110th Independence Day, yet another retelling of Sisa will premiere, this time with Jodi Sta.Maria-Lacson in the title role, written by Frank Rivera and directed by CJ Andaluz. Other roles in this version and the actors playing them are Juanito (Christian Vasquez), Pedro (Carlo Maceda), Padre Salvi (Jay Manalo), Doņa Consolacion (Aleck Bovick), Maria Clara (Charie Pineda), Crisostomo Ibarra (Jao Mapa), Elias (Richard Quan), Sakristan Mayor (Mon Confiado), Don Rafael Ibarra (Chinggoy Alonso), Lucas (Jeffrey Hidalgo), Inggo (Edward Jackson), Pilosopong Tasyo (Bodjie Pascua), Padre Damaso (Dido dela Paz), Nana Asuncion (Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino), Lola Ising (Ama Quiam-bao), Manang Aning (Ermie Con-cepcion), Maestro Paking (Arman Reyes), Menang (Chx Alcala), Enchang (Mayo Su-zuki), Kubrador (Archi Adamos), Kapitan Tiago (Danny Magisa), Tenyente (Moises Magisa), Tia Sabel (Gina Villa) and the young actors portraying Basilio (Keith Cabanez) and Crispin (Vahn Lenard Pascual). Alan Paule has a special participation as Dr. Jose Rizal.
Its makers are confident that their "Sisa" is an updated version that both old and young viewers can relate to: The stylized treatment is new and different-a mix of theatrics, computer-generated images and new-age music.
