MANILA, APRIL 16, 2008 (STAR) DIRECTLINE By Boy Abunda - Sometimes, I get tired with the mob that flock to Boracay during Holy Week and long weekends. But this is the same crowd that I love to watch. In Boracay, everyone is malling, swimming, boating, eating, smiling, parasailing, kayaking; some are searchers (for love?) while some are willing searches. Boracay defines fun and white sand and divine sunset.

Hands down, Boracay is definitely the top choice of stars for a summer get away. I love Boracay. Four or five times a year, I am in Boracay for some reason. Is it the sun, the beach, the water, the people, the food? I don’t know. It could be everything and more. As I am writing this, I am in Boracay taking a few days off from my hectic schedule in Manila. No plans, no itineraries, I just packed my things and escaped to Boracay. To me Boracay is close to perfect. One side of the island is cosmo, the other side, provincial. It is also complete with world class amenities — hotels and the like. Boracay is a mecca — for tired bodies and wounded souls, for those who just want to laze around, for people watching — for everything. Once you experience Boracay, you are seduced for life. Where do stars go during summer? Read on.

Ruffa Gutierrez — The South of France. I enjoy the freedom to do whatever I want together with my friends. I also enjoy the privacy it offers.

Phoemela Baranda — My favorite summer destination is Boracay. I love the white beach, the sun and the sea. I love to swim or just laze around while in Boracay.

Dawn Zulueta — My favorite summer place is Davao. I look forward not just to enjoy the beautiful beaches and cool mountain resorts but most especially being in the company of its warm and hospitable people.

Rufa Mae Quinto — Italy. I went on a cruise to Italy this year, and I realized that it is the best. And from now on, summer will always be in Italy. Favorite ko na talaga.

Bobby Garcia — Vancouver. One of the most breathtaking cities in the world right by the ocean. And in the summer time, it has the longest days as the sun doesn’t set until 10 p.m.

Mariel Rodriguez — New Jersey. Because my dad is there. Plus I get to shop, he he he.

Gretchen Barretto — San Francisco, California. I love the cold weather.

Amy Perez — My family and I always go to our humble and cute house in Tagaytay with my nanay (mom of my mama) and almost all of my pamangkins. But Carlo, Adi and I would like to discover new places we can go to during summer. We like to travel a lot. It’s one of our bonding moments.

Ai-Ai delas Alas — Boracay kasi “in.” And my house kasi parang resort kulang lang ng dagat.

Anne Curtis — My favorite summer place is anywhere where there is a beach. I love to laze around and drink my favorite cold shake. I love the sun and the sea. I also love to swim.

Nyoy Volante — Boracay is always a good place for a summer getaway. Everything is basic yet sophisticated at the same time. No time and area to consider cause anytime, anywhere, something fun is going on. And kahit saan ka pumunta, pwedeng nakapaa ka lang!

Erik Santos — Boracay is still the best for me. I like going there because of its nightlife and fine sand.

Ariel Rivera — Toronto, Canada. So that we could visit our family there.

Tintin Bersola — If not abroad, Tagaytay hands down. Parang Baguio ang weather pero di kasinglayo.

Bianca Gonzalez — Boracay. Because it really feels like paradise on earth.

Moy Ortiz of The CompanY — Paris and Tuscany. I will always have a special place in my heart for these two places. Good food. Good culture. Good museums and good shopping.

Drew Arellano — Tagaytay/Taal. For just an hour and a half away from Manila, you’re already in a different world. Choose from an array of beautiful and intimate boutique hotels. Can’t stay away from the beach, err lake? Fifteen- to 20-minute drive from Tagaytay, you can enjoy sailing in one of the hobiecats on Taal Lake, bringing along a cooler filled with ice cold beer of course.

There you go. It is summer and it is time to pack your bags and travel to your favorite summer destination be it Boracay, Palawan, Paris, Maldives or anywhere else in the world.
