GMA  OFF  TO  CEBU, DIPOLOG AND CAGAYAN  DE  ORO

(OFFICE OF THE PRESS SECRETARY) President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will visit Cebu City tomorrow (Monday) to inaugurate a call center and address the 1st National Information and Communication Technology in Basic Education Congress at the Waterfront Hotel.

The President will also inaugurate the e-Telecare International Call Center at the Asiatown I.T. Park in Lahug, Cebu City.

Aside from the President, Education Secretary Florencio Abad will also speak before the education congress organized by the Foundation for IT Education and Development, a non-government organization (NGO) where presidential daughter Evangeline "Luli" Arroyo works.

The NGO said 1,000 participants are expected to attend the congress.

Abad, whose appointment was confirmed by the Commission on Appointments last week, will also attend DepEd's management conference in Cebu City on December 8.

DepEd regional directors, superintendents, administrators and teachers are expected to attend the conference.

The congress, which is aimed at improving the teaching skills of educators in information and communications technology, is in line with the President's 10-point legacy agenda.

After lunch, the President will proceed to Dipolog City for the unveiling of several development projects. She will also meet with local officials in the area.

The following day (Tuesday), the President will fly to Cagayan de Oro City to visit the CEPALCO Solar Electrification Project and inaugurate the Court of Appeals building in the city.

From Cagayan de Oro City, the President will fly to Dumaguete City for the unveiling of the marker of the Dumaguete-Siaton-Basay Road project.

She will also attend the National Trade Fair and Congress in Bayawan City before flying back to Manila.
