PALACE BARES LIST OF OFFICIAL DELEGATION TO CHINA
MALACANANG, August 31, 2004 (OFFICE OF THE PRESS SECRETARY) Malacanang revealed today a list of government officials comprising President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s official entourage during her three-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China beginning tomorrow.
Apart from the President and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, the 16-member official delegation included six legislators led by Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. and five Cabinet members.
Also in the list are Philippine Ambassador to Beijing Willy C. Gaa, Philippine Envoy for Chinese Affairs John K.C. Ng and Palawan Gov. Mario Joel Reyes.
The other lawmakers are Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr. and Congressmen Juan Miguel Zubiri (3rd Dist., Bukidnon) Juan Miguel Arroyo (2nd Dist., Pampanga), Ignacio Arroyo (5th Dist., Negros Oriental) and. Augusto Baculio (2nd Dist.,Misamis Oriental).
The Cabinet Secretaries in the list are Alberto Romulo of Foreign Affairs, Cesar Purisima of Trade and Industry, Arthur Yap of Agriculture, Vicente Perez of Energy and Roberto Pagdanganan of Tourism.
A small group of business leaders would also form part of the official delegation, but would have to shoulder their own expenses, including travel tax, plane tickets and hotel accommodation.
The two countries are expected to sign a number of government-to-government agreements, as well as private sector joint venture contracts during the state visit, the President’s second state visit to Beijing and her first foreign travel as the 14th President of the Philippines.
