FLORO MERCENE:  PROBLEM  OF  CHIZ,  NOYNOY AND  GIBO

MANILA, NOVEMBER 2, 2009 (BULLETIN) MERRY  GO  ROUND- By FLORO L. MERCENE -Chiz Escudero bolts the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and may run for president as an independent. Malacañang is wooing him to be the vice president of Gibo Teodoro.

A more likely scenario.

***

There are reports that Chiz left the NPC because his backers failed to come up with the right funding for his campaign.

The same problem faces Noynoy Aquino, the LP candidate, but not Gibo Teodoro of Lakas Kampi and zillionaire Manny Villar.

***

Escudero says anyone interested in running for president should not belong to any political party.

But how can you run a campaign without a political machine? It’s impossible.

***

With no viable presidential candidate in the NPC, Danding Cojuangco is now free to support the bid of his nephew Noynoy Aquino, who appears to lead in the race.

Danding has also to consider the candidacy of Gibo Teodoro, who is also his nephew.

***

Some pundits are saying that if he becomes president, Noynoy Aquino can lead the nation in effecting Charter change.

We don’t buy that. The people are against Cha-cha and if they ram it through, there will be trouble.

They can use the party to recruit more adherents.

Loren Legarda says she will run for vice president under the NPC.

With Chiz Escudero gone from the party, whom will she run with as presidential bet?

***

Successor of GMA to the presidency faces a fiscal crisis because the government does not have enough reserves to pay off the country’s debts due to failing revenues and unliquidated tax cuts.

Oil companies might be compelled to ration gasoline if they are forced by the government to reduce prices.

We're coming to that with or without the government’s intervention.

***

Malacañang says Erap should be allowed to run for president, a reversal of its earlier position that he cannot run because of Constitutional sanctions.

A lawyer allied with the Palace has filed a petition to oppose Erap’s candidacy.

What gives?
