President Arroyo bared yesterday possible job opportunities following a 26 percent increase in investments pumped into the country last year by foreign and local businessmen.

President Arroyo announced this in a series of speeches yesterday in schools and colleges in Tarlac, Caloocan City and Rizal Province.

The President in her speeches, highlighted the present administration’s platform of government "to create one million new jobs each year for the next six years."

Mrs. Arroyo credited anew her administration’s capability to fulfill this promise to the Filipino people based in the track record of her administration that have been able to generate one million jobs for the past three years.

President Arroyo conceded the number of unemployed Filipinos would increase with fresh college graduates joining the country’s labor force sector.

The President, however, said that employment opportunities await them under her administration with her success in bringing about new capital infusions from foreign and local investors.

"Looking for jobs for this year’s graduates, would not be difficult because of the much improved confidence of the business community in the country’s economic prospects," the President said.

Citing the presence of Rep. Teodoro, President Arroyo said she was particularly reminded of the $500 million joint venture between Kirin Beer and San Miguel Corp. (SMC) which is run by the uncle of the Tarlac solon, businessman Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco Jr.

"This SMC-Kirin Beer joint venture brought in money to SMC that enabled SMC to implement many of its company’s expansion and increased their production, hired more dealers, and created new jobs," President Arroyo said.

Taking note of the presence of Rep. Aquino, President Arroyo said she was reminded of the Hacienda Luisita Industrial Estate owned by their family where foreign investors locate their factories outside the industrial estates in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon). – Marichu Villanueva
