PHIL TOURISM AUTHORITY (PTA) LAUNCHES 'B.E.S.T.' RP
MANILA, November 12, 2003 (BULLETIN) The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) recently launched its non-traditional promotional program dubbed “B.E.S.T. (Boosting Eco-Socio Tourism) in the Philippines: Dito Lang ‘Yan” via noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga.”
The said program, according to PTA general manager Robert Dean Barbers, aims to reinforce the Department of Tourism’s WOW Philippines programs and further promote PTA’s new battlecry, ‘Pilipino sa Turismo ay Aktibo’.
“Every Filipino is encouraged to play an active role in promoting local tourism at huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan,” Barbers said.
The live broadcast from Clamshell 2 of WOW Philippines in Intramuros, Manila also featured the declaration of the said PTA Tent as the ‘Cultural Shelter of the Philippines,’ a venue for significant cultural events.
“This event signifies PTA’s bullish moves to further strengthen local tourism. Our country has a lot to offer, great sites and hospitable people, what more can you ask for?” he added.
Highlights of the event included the country’s bid for the Guinness Record for the Longest Bunting or ‘banderitas’ in the World signifying unity in culture, race and Filipino spirit; the introduction of BEST (Beautiful and Exciting Sites and Trips) in the Philippines featuring the 13 properties of the PTA; launch of the agency’s jingle, ‘Pilipino sa Turismo ay Aktibo’ sung by singer/actress Jolina Magdangal and the PTA’s BEST in the Phils. programs and projects.
