Baguio City, May 26, 2003 -- Not many know that besides Baguio’s famous
landmarks -- Mines View Park, Burnham Park and Lourdes Grotto, among others
-- the City of Pines is also home to a premier vacation spot that offers a
wide range of amenities and services that are on a par with global standards.

Through the years, the Baguio Country Club (BCC) has remained a constant
choice among people who are looking for a private place to spend some
quality time and space far from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan
living. A prestigious golf and country club, the BCC is known as one of the
oldest golf resorts in the Philippines and perhaps even in Asia.

Since its establishment in 1905 by American governor Cameron Forbes, the
BCC has maintained its premier status as a high-end membership club with
more than 2,500 members coming from various sectors of society.

Ongoing priority projects

Running until year 2008, the BCC has lined up 20 priority projects for the
construction and renovation of several areas within the club premises with
a whopping budget of P410.65 million. The club’s master plan was developed
with Francisco Mañosa & Partners.

Topping the list up for construction are the six additional log cabins with
access to the road (outlook drive view). Next is the rehabilitation of a
new powerhouse that will also include road widening. A new BCC facility
building will also be erected. Besides these, a new pavilion, multisports
center with spa, chapel, training center, main theater, minigolf course, a
butterfly garden and orchidarium, halfway house and a children’s rumpus
room are among the club’s upcoming features in active development.

These constructions are targeted to be finished in time for the club’s
centennial anniversary in 2005.

Considered as a golfer’s haven, the BCC -- among its other excellent
features and offerings -- serves as a private golf course found 5,000 feet
above sea level.

Excellent for family vacations, the BCC is also a good place to hold
quarterly meetings, company conferences and team-building workshops. The
place is fully equipped to accommodate 50 to 1,000 people for private
functions, such as weddings, reunions or corporate events.

Indoor, outdoor -- all fun

The BCC boasts of several areas which members and their families and other
vacationers can check out during their stay. The Business Center and the
adjoining Butler Room are good for holding private meetings where you can
also have a grand view of the sprawling golf course. The restaurant Hamada
offers genuine Japanese cuisine that will surely delight your yen for
sushi, sashimi and just about every Japanese delicacy. The grand ballroom
has been the venue of large-scale musical presentations featuring some of
Manila’s renowned artists.

The club is not only for parties and celebrations; it is also for
recreational activities that active vacationers specifically look for in a

Besides its grand and sprawling par-61 golf course, there are covered
tennis courts with indoor and outdoor lighting for day- and night-playing
by the Marat Safin and Venus Williams wannabes. The glass-encased outdoor
swimming pools can be utilized by both young and old vacationers, as they
can have a swimmingly good time in the heated and kiddie pools.

Alternatively, adults can submit themselves to a relaxing massage at the
adjoining spa to soothe those tired muscles after a whole-day workout. For
those who prefer to stay indoors, they can have a different kind of fun
playing table tennis, darts, billiards and interactive video games.

As Filipinos and tourists have known for the longest time, there’s nothing
quite like the charms offered by Baguio City -- and these include the
Baguio Country Club. (TODAY)
