PAL STARTING MANILA-OKINAWA FLIGHTS

Manila, May 22, 2003 -- Philippine Airlines (PAL) said Thursday it would
next month launch a regular service to the southern Japanese city of
Okinawa, adding traffic between the two countries had held up well despite
the SARS outbreak.

The Manila-Okinawa-Fukuoka service would start on June 20 with four flights
a week, giving travelers an alternative to the national flag carrier's
twice-weekly direct flights to Fukuoka.

The service gives "another dimension to the sturdy air traffic between the
Philippines and Japan that has held up well despite the SARS-induced
downturn in travel," a PAL statement said.

PAL also flies the Manila-Tokyo route daily, and flies five times a week to
the Japanese capital from Cebu.
