PHILTRANCO OPENS LAND-SEA TOURISM ROUTES

-- Philtranco has opened the new Pasay-Iloilo
route for only P866 and is allowing local and foreign tourists to enjoy
Boracay for only a little more than half a day's trip at an affordable rate
of P672 via Philtranco's  Pasay-Caticlan route.

Philtranco gives the riding public faster and cheaper travel alternatives
through the Pasay-Iloilo and Pasay-Caticlan routes,  designed to offer a
travel itinerary that is cheaper and more convenient that airplane and boat
travel.

Boarding from the congested cities of Manila, Philtranco takes a trip
headed to Batangas as the itinerary goes. A ferry ride then transports
passengers to Calapan, driving travelers to a two-hour captivating seascape
viewing along the way. From Calapan, Philtranco brings passengers to Roxas
Mindoro from which another ferry connection takes them from Roxas to
Caticlan within the mesmerizing island Panay. Upon arriving in Caticlan,
passengers who want to enjoy the beaches of Boracay can freely do so within
a fifteen-minute travel through a public utility transport. While those who
are headed all the way to Iloilo City will take another Philtranco bus ride
while watching impressive provinces along the way.

Offering the trip from Mondays through Sundays, Philtranco enables
passengers to travel at their convenience. Starting from the newly opened
central station in Pasay all the way to the clean buses, Philtranco offers
superb facilities and amenities that are all modern and well maintained.

In the early 1980s, Philtranco pioneered the intermodal transport with the
introduction of bus-cum-ferry, extending its reach to Visayas and Mindanao.
This has been followed by a series of expansion projects including a fleet
replacement program for 80 brand new units costing over 250 million in 1999.

In the same year, Philtranco launched the Biyaheng Pinoy project, taking
travelers to a new level of passenger service which revolves on the concept
of seamless and worry free travel throughout Philtranco's nationwide
network. Included in the program are the on time departure and arrival of
buses dovetailed with ferry crossing schedules, which means less waiting
and down times for passengers and buses at ferry terminals; safe and
comfortable travel aboard Philtranco's airconditioned coaches, well
maintained rest rooms and uniform food pricing through budget meals at all
Philtranco meal stops; terminal-to-door taxi van service which assures
passengers a safe and inexpensive ride home from the terminal; and a
door-to-door cargo handling and delivery for passengers who haul in cargo
in large volumes and crates.

Notwithstanding the economic crisis that's been battering the economy for
the previous years, Philtranco embarks on a P4 billion expansion plan set
over the next five years. Just for this year, Philtranco is spending P70
million to upgrade existing terminals and at the same time continue to open
off with the acquisition of 200 new buses from Man of Germany, purchase of
12 ferryboats and improvement of passenger cargo handling, as well as
delivery services.

Recently, Philtranco allotted P20 million for the Philtranco Central
Station which President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo inaugurated. The
multi-million terminal is equipped with world-class facilities and
services. The large air-conditioned lounges, comfort and shower rooms are
properly maintained.

Boarding and baggage handling are patterned to that of airport facilities.
There's also a food court for travelers and well-wishers. A dormitory also
accommodates bus drivers and conductors waiting for dispatch.

Philtranco also tied up with Western Union Money Transfer via E-business
services, Inc. early this month, in order to cater to passengers who have
to transfer money immediately through a reliable ssytem before or after
traveling. This is the first time that Western Union will try its hands on
booth-type franchising. This money transfer service is available within the
Philtranco Central Station in Pasay, and will branch out to other
Philtranco Terminals soon.

To further meet the standards of today's generation, Philtranco hooks up on
mobile services as its information schedules become more accessible via
Short Message Sending (SMS). Passengers wanting to get instant travel

Since Philtranco's buses began servicing in 1914, they have carried
millions and millions of passengers in all seasons to areas served by its
national franchise.
