MILLER LEADS RED BULL CHARGE OVER PUREFOODSPasig City, May 3, 2003 -- With reigning Most Valuable Player Willie Miller showing the way, Red Bull arrested a two-game slide with an emphatic 105-86 win over Purefoods last night in the Samsung PBA All-Filipino Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Miller had a game-high 30 points, including four triples, as the Thunder improved to 11-3 in Group B while pushing the Hotdogs further down the cellar in Group A with their ninth defeat in 14 outings.
Miller said he responded to the challenge posed by coach Yeng Guiao who told him before the game that he needed to pick up his game in the absence of long-time buddy Jimwell Torion who has been suspended indefinitely for using shabu.
"Nung mawala kasi si Jimwell medyo naging malungkot ako at talagang naapektuhan 'yung game ko," said Miller. "At least ngayon medyo gumaan na naman at naipakita ko 'yung aggressiveness ko in offense and defense. (Malaya)
