PALACE CHIEF OF STAFF SAYS GMA MIGHT CHANGE MIND RE 2004 POLLS
Malacanang, July 2, 2003 (STAR) Not a "lame duck" but rather a "high-flying eagle."
Malacaņang believes that President Gloria Arroyo might change her mind on her decision not to run for the 2004 presidential polls after her December 30, 2002 declaration.
Presidential chief of staff Rigoberto Tiglao said that Pres. Arroyo might change her mind now that more and more people are starting to realize that she is "the best candidate" among the hopefuls.
Tiglao also cited the projects and programs that are now beginning to bear fruit and from which the people are beginning to benefit from.
However, he added that this decision will be based on the country's welfare and not on her own personal interest.
Likewise, he clarified that the President would rather decide around January or February next year since she has to deal with the country's current problems at the moment.
