ARROYO WON'T DEMAND PAYBACK FROM U.S. FOR RP SUPPORT

Manila, May 19, 2003 (STAR) President Gloria Arroyo said she did not come to the United States with a "laundry list".

Pres. Arroyo made this declaration during her state visit to Washington, DC as she is expected to meet with US Pres. George W. Bush tomorrow night (Tuesday morning in Manila) at the White House for a state dinner.

When asked if she would discuss the Philippine participation in the post-war Iraq after her administration's all-out support for the US Coalition of the Willing versus Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, Pres. Arroyo said she won't demand from Bush the Philippines' "pay-off time."

Likewise, she shrugged off calls that the country be given its due for its support of the US war against terrorism.

The Philippine President is on a three-day state visit to the US to boost the financial and economic cooperation between the Philippines and the US.
