Kabiling (PHOTO courtesy of PhilStar) - Diosdado "Dato" Ignacio Jose Maria Arroyo, the youngest son of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and First Gentleman Atty. Jose Miguel Arroyo will wed his longtime girlfriend Maria Victoria Celina "Kakai" Manotoc this afternoon at the Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati.

The wedding will be the second in the First Family but is expected to be a more private affair than that of his older brother Pampanga Vice Gov. actor Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo's nuptials to Angela Montenegro last year.

Dato, 28, is rarely seen in the public with the President unlike his brother Mikey and sister Luli. President Arroyo, already a doting grandmother, is scheduled to attend the event along with First Gentleman Atty. Jose Miguel Arroyo before flying to the United States on Saturday in a state visit.

The reception will follow at Malacaņang after the 4:30 p.m. wedding ceremony with the motif of fuschia and yellow.

The principal sponsors are presidential brother Arturo Macapagal, Enrique Razon Jr, Atty. Arthur Villaraza, Enrique Aboitize Jr., Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Mrs. Corazon Tamayo, Mrs. Adelia Kruidenier, Mrs. Teresa Gozon, Mrs Sharon Pangilinan, and Mrs. Georgina de Venecia.

Dato started dating Kakai, the daughter of Rufino and Cynthia Manotok, in 1995 when both were 3rd year college students at the Ateneo de Manila University. Dato gave her an engagement ring, which was the pendant in a set of jewelry owned by the President's grandmother Irinea Macaraeg.

From that set, Mikey got the four-carat ring for his wife Angela. They now have a daughter Mikaela Gloria, the first granddaughter of the Arroyo family.

Dato, named after his maternal grandfather, former President Diosdado Macapagal, is finishing his law studies at the Far Eastern University.

Kakai, an AB Management graduate from Ateneo, works as at the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Ltd.

The newlyweds are expected to fly to Spain, Italy and France for their honeymoon. They will temporarily live in Malacanang while the Arroyo's family home in La Vista, Quezon is under reconstruction. (Bulletin)
