SEVEN ARRESTED FOR POSTING ANTI-'DODOT' JAWORSKI POSTERS

PASIG CITY, January 31, 2004 (STAR) By Non Alquitran - Seven persons were arrested yesterday for posting posters against congressional candidate Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr. in Pasig City.

The camp of mayoral bet Vicente Eusebio was quick to deny involvement in the incident pointing instead to newly-installed Pasig City Rep. Noel Carino, who is opposing Jaworski in the coming May elections.

Chief Superintendent Oscar Valenzuela, director of the Eastern Police District, identified the suspects as Rodolfo Capilos Jr. 22; Ruelito Alea, 20; Nicanor San Mateo, 57; Lyndon Javier, 31, Ricardo Gutas Jr.,20; Arnel Kurt, 18, and Larry Sison, 24.

Valenzuela said former Pasig City Rep. Henry Lanot was on his way home after attending a party when he spotted three men posting posters along Barangay Bagong Ilog.

The posters reads, "Sino Siya? Sa Makati siya nakatira, nanalong konsehal sa San Juan (ngunit termino’y hindi natapos) ngayon sa Pasig naman Tatakbo. . . Paloloko ba tayo? (Who is he? He is a Makati resident who won as councilor in San Juan but didn’t even finished his term. Now, he is running in Pasig. Are we going to be duped?)"

Lanot personally arrested the suspects and Capilos, Alea and San Mateo and recovered from them hundreds of similar posters.

Lanot was led by the trio at the back of the Pasig City Hall compound where the remaining suspects are waiting. Confiscated from them are 50,000 pieces of the said posters.

During tactical interrogation, the suspects said they were paid P150 for posting 200 pieces of posters each in various barangays in Pasig City.

Eusebio, the former mayor of Pasig City, will be running under the opposition banner Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) after the administration party junked him in favor of Jaworski, apparently as one of the conditions for his father. Robert Sr., joining the Lakas-CMD senatorial slot.

The camp of Eusebio said Lanot and Jaworski concocted the story to gain media mileage. Jaworski Jr., rushed to the EPD satellite office along Meralco Ave., to file charges of vandalism and violation of the Omnibus Election Code against the arrested suspects.
