NUDE SHOWS WORRY MUNICIPAL COUNCILORS IN NUEVA VIZCAYA
SOLANO, NUEVA VIZCAYA, January 19, 2004 (MANILA TIMES) By Racquel D. Evangelista, Northern Luzon Bureau - Local officials in this booming town expressed alarm on Sunday on the alleged nude shows in some videoke bars, which are being ignored by the authorities.
Councilor Ramonita Casumpang, in an interview with The Manila times, said that the town is being turned into a haven of prostitution, citing information about the rampant flesh trade and proliferation of nude shows in some night spots here.
Casumpang, also a medical practitioner, identified one of the bars staging nude shows as Queen Alexandra Videoke bar, which is located at the back of the Metrobank, and just 300 meters away from the this town’s police station.
Allegedly, a policeman owns the joint.
Casumpang said the bar caught the attention of pedestrians because of its, Queen Alexandra: Watch for the Showdown streamer.
Sources said that the shows are staged from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., the following day especially when customers fill the bar, but no fixed schedule is ever set.
Guest relation officers (GROs) of the bar inform their customers through cellular phones two to three hours before the show, one informant told The Times. My friend, who is a regular in the said bar told me that for P700, the customers are given two bottles of beer for free plus the show, Casumpang said.
However, in an interview with Councilor Jose Evangelista, chair of the committee on public safety and peace and order, he said that when he conducted an investigation on this matter, he found no incriminating evidence.
There was never been a nude show in Solano. The GROs wear two-piece.They’re not naked. People are just exaggerating, he said.
Though we are now in the modern era, we can’t set aside the fact that people of Solano are still conservative in their ways and wary about this. Besides, the local government strongly prohibits such activity, he said.
