BAGUIO TEMPERATURE DIPS TO 10.6 DEGREES CELSIUS
BAGUIO CITY, December 3, 2003 (STAR) It’s time to bring out those sweaters and jackets!
At 4 a.m. yesterday, the mercury reading in this mountain city dipped to 10.6 degrees Celsius, its lowest so far this season.
The temperature plunged from last Monday’s 10.8 degrees. According to local weather forecaster Pedro Rigos, it may drop to as low as 8 degrees in January.
Rigos said the cold spell is caused by the Siberian winds from mainland China.
The more adventurous, he said, can trek to Mt. Pulag, the country’s second highest peak, where the temperature has reached 5 to 6 degrees.
Baguio City experienced its coldest at 6.1 degrees on Jan. 18, 1961.
With the temperature drop, the city’s health department has advised residents and tourists to wear thick clothing to protect themselves against illnesses. — Artemio Dumlao
