EDU EARNS 3 NODS IN STAR AWARDS FOR TV
MANILA, OCTOBER 5, 2003 (MALAYA) EVERYTHING seems to be coming up roses for Edu Manzano's TV career.
He has been cited for his exemplary performance in ABS-CBN shows like "Magandang Umaga, Bayan" ("MUB"), "OK, Fine! Whatever," "Showbiz Sabado" and "ASAP Mania" in three different categories in this year's PMPC Star Awards for TV.
He is up against formidable comedians Vic Sotto ("Daddy Di Do Du"), Joey de Leon ("Nuts Entertainment"), Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. ("Bubble Gang") in the best comedy actor category for his performance as Rica Peralejo's zany elder brother in the Aga Muhlach-Bayani Agbayani sitcom, "OK, Fine! Whatever."
In the best morning talk show host category, meanwhile, Edu of "MUB" is pitted against veteran broadcast journalists Arnold Clavio and Daniel Razon (for "Unang Hirit") and neophyte Bobby Andrews ("Good Morning, Philippines").
In the best male showbiz-oriented talk show host, the "Showbiz Sabado" host competes with "The Buzz's" Boy Abunda, and "S-Files'" Paolo Bediones, Richard Gomez and Joey Marquez.
It will be recalled that Edu bested both Boy and Paolo when he grabbed this year's best host plum at the prestigious Aliw Awards.
Will he duplicate the feat or perform even better and win all three nominations? That we'll have to wait and see.
The PMPC Star Awards for TV is scheduled on Oct. 11 at the UP Theater.
