Quezon City, April 16, 2003
-- Lotlot, Ian, Matet, Kiko and Kenneth share
the same surname: De Leon. But it is common knowledge that they are not
siblings in real life. In fact, among the five, it is only Ian who is the
one and only offspring of Christopher "Boyet" De Leon and Nora "Guy" Aunor.

Lotlot, however, was adopted by Boyet and Guy when she was still very young
so she has the legal right to use the surname. Of course, Lotlot now uses
Gutierrez, her husband Ramon Christopher's family name.

Lotlot came into Guy's life a few years before Boyet married her. "Kaya mas
nauna pa siyang kinilalang anak nina Boyet at Guy bago ipinanganak si Ian,"
said a kibitzer.

It was the late Manay Tunying, Guy's mom, who brought Matet to Guy. A
beautiful baby, she was immediately given the nickname Matet by Guy. Her
Christian name is Maria Teresa.

Kiko and Kenneth joined the De Leon family a few years later.

"Sa amin, it doesn't matter kung 'di talaga kami tunay na magkakapatid,"
explained Ian, "What's important is that we have each other."

Their close relationship, Ian averred, is because of their Ate Lotlot, who
lives up to her being the panganay. They can count on her whenever they
need her, whether they need a shoulder to cry on or a person to share their
joys with. Lotlot is always there for them.

"She is the ideal big sister whom everyone should have. Mabait siya,
bagama't nagagalit din paminsan-minsan. At kapag pinagalitan niya kami,
tahimik kami talaga. Because, usually naman, tama siya," Matet revealed
with a smile.

Matet said that she, her Ate Lotlot, Kenneth and Kiko will always feel
grateful to Boyet for allowing them to use his family name. They are also
grateful to Sandy Andolong, Boyet's wife.

"Actually, parang mga tunay na anak din ang turing sa amin ni Tatay Boyet,"
Matet stated. "And we are free to go to his house anytime we want to."

Among the five of them, it is only Ian who lives with Boyet. Lotlot, of
course, has a house with her own family. Matet has her own pad. Kiko and
Kenneth stay with Guy.

"Pero 'yung alam mong may pamilya ka, no matter what, 'yung bagay na 'yon
ang pinakaimportante sa akin," Matet concluded.
