QUIAPO-ANTIPOLO PRAYER PILGRIMAGE STARTS TOMORROW
Manila, April 29, 2003 In line with this year’s celebration of the “Year of the Rosary,” the
Archdiocese of Manila recently announced its plan to hold a special
pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo
not only to help the Catholic faithful in deepening their faith but also to
popularize the praying of the rosary.
Called “Tayo na sa Antipolo Kasama si Maria,” the pilgrimage will start on
Wednesday, April 30, with a mass at the Shrine of the Black Nazarene in
Pilgrim participants, who will be provided with kits containing a rosary,
prayer guide, and map will proceed to the Shrine of Mary Queen of Peace in
Mandaluyong City for the first mystery of the rosary until they reach the
Antipolo Cathedral where Bishop Teodoro Bacani will celebrate a mass.
Organizers revealed that the rosary will be prayed before 20 stations
(representing the 20 mysteries) placed at different locations along the
path of the pilgrimage.
Pilgrim participants are also expected to join the presentation of the new
mysteries of light, prayer service, confession, and the blessing.
The month-long pilgrimage will be held every Friday of May, following the
same format coming from an ecclesiastical district of the archdiocese. On
May 9-10, the Diocese of Parañaque; Cubao and Makati districts on May
23-24, and districts of Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas on May 30-31.
However, from June to December; other activities lined up for the public
are the following: Our Lady of Fatima image will be taken to all the
parishes under the archdiocese of Manila.
There will also be exhibits showing the relevance and evolution of the
rosary, aside from church tours.
But it will be in October that the culminating activity will happen in time
for the Feast of La Naval. said Fr. Genaro Diwa, chairman of the Year of
