TRADER KIDNAPPED IN CHINATOWN

Manila, April 27, 2003 -- A Filipino-Chinese trader and her driver were
abducted by three heavily armed men who intercepted their vehicle in
Binondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

The Binondo Police Station (WPD-11) identified the abducted trader as Susan
Ong and her driver as a certain "Dante." Both were residents of Chinatown,
Binondo.

PO2 Carlito Ohoy, case-investigator, said the victims were on their way
home and cruising aboard a Honda CRV when a dark colored car blocked their
way at 1:30 a.m. at the vicinity of Valderama and De La Paz sts., Binondo.

Witnesses said  three men armed with long firearms immediately alighted
from their vehicle and quickly forced their way inside the victims' CRV and
took control of it.

Ohoy said that the victim's younger sister, Mei-ling, managed to escape
while the suspects were forcibly opening the doors of the vehicle.

Police said that two of the suspects drove Ong's vehicle toward the south.
