TEARFUL SAN JUAN REUNIONS FOR JINGGOY
San Juan, Metro Manila, March 8, 2003 -- Former mayor Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada, son of jailed ex-president Joseph Estrada, arrived at his San Juan home Friday afternoon after posting bail of P500,000.
Actors and friends Philip Salvador and Rudy Fernandez appeared before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan earlier before noon to post bail on behalf of the younger Estrada. He and his father are facing plunger charges.
Fans and former constituents gave Jinggoy a rousing welcome at his house after visiting his grandmother Doņa Mary Ejercito and hearing a thanksgiving mass at Pinaglabanan Church.
He was greeted by residents, most of whom were wearing yellow. Yellow ribbons were also tied on trees and fences near his home and Pinaglabanan Church.
Welcoming him with hugs and kisses was his mother, Senator Loi Estrada. Also on hand for an emotional family reunion were his sister, brothers, wife and children.
