SAN BEDA LAW STUDES IN FRAT RUMBLE ARRESTED
Manila, Feb. 2, 2003 - Ten law students involved in a frat-related rumble in San Miguel, Quiapo, were arrested by WPD policemen before dawn yesterday.
Police identified the arrested students as Xerxes Garcia, 24; Tyrone Lacson, 23; Lyndon De Los Santos, 24; Terence Agustin, 24; Francis Doble, 24; Primo Chuyaco III, 25; Jacob Jabson, 22; Raymond Mendoza, 31; Lito Go, 22 and Giovanni Lopez, 22.
All of them were reportedly students of the San Beda Law College and allegedly members of rival fraternities.
PO2 Richard Caballes, case-investigator, said that the rumble transpired at around 12 midnight along the stretch of C. Aguila st., San Miguel, Quiapo.
Caballes that a team of patrolling barangay tanods and policemen headed by Barangay chairman Angel Murillo of Barangay 637, Zone 65, heard a gunshot and some noises indicating a street rumble.
Caballes added that the barangay patrol and policemen hurriedly pacified the warring groups and confiscated a magnum revolver with five live rounds. An empty shell was also recovered in the scene.
The students were taken to the Sta. Mesa Police station.
Police added that all 10 suspects refused to give an account of the rumble or how it started.
The students were charged with breaching the peace and were ordered to take a paraffin test to determine who fired the revolver. (Malaya)
