City, Jan. 28, 2003 - Zoren Legaspi said he and Carmina Villaroel have
just bought a 300 square meter lot in Pasig City, the city where they are now
residing. They plan to have a house built there.
"Kung ako ang masusunod, a 200 square meter lot would have been okay. Pero gusto ni Carmina ng malaking garden for our twin kids (Mavey and Casey, now two years old). That's why she decided on a bigger lot," Zoren revealed.
For the first time, at the presscon of his new movie, "The Cory Quirino Kidnap," Zoren told us how his romance with Carmina started.
"Thirteen pa lang siya, crush ko na siya," he related. "Niligawan ko siya. But for one reason or another, nabaling ang atensiyon ko kay Ruffa (Gutierrez) who then became my girlfriend for four years. Ruffa and Carmina are best friends."
Carmina had just separated from Rustom Padilla (their marriage is now annulled) when he learned that Carmina's house was just a few steps away from his house in Juana Subdivision, Pasig city.
"I visited her," he recalled. "Before I knew it, I was visiting her more than was necessary."
When Carmina first told him she was pregnant, he didn't know how to react, especially when she told him that they were going to have twins.
Carmina then left for the US where she had chosen to give birth. She lived with her brother Jupiter in L.A.
"When the twins were born, Carmina wanted us to stay in the US. But I disagreed. Sabi ko sa kanya, it's in the Philippines where our hearts belong. So, we should go back here. Mabuti naman at nakinig siya," Zoren said.
He cannot ask for more as far as his life with Carmina is concerned. "I feel that God really had chosen her to be my wife. Mabait siyang asawa at ina," he said.
From Zoren, we learned that Carmina has not yet signed a contract with GMA-7, although they have proposed several shows for her.
"May offer din kasi sa kanya ang ABS-CBN. E, 'di ba, ang tagal niyang naging contract star ng ABS-CBN. Kaya nga sabi ko sa kanya she should make sure na magiging tama ang kanyang desisyon. I don't want naman kasi to decide for her," Zoren stated.
