Manila, May 24, 2002 (STAR) The AMA Foundation, Inc. is offering subsidized tuition fee to benefit 10,000 students this school year.

The Flexible Tuition Subsidy (FTS) program opens its application to freshmen and new student transferees of AMA Computer University (AMACU) and AMA Computer College (AMACC) campuses nationwide until May 27.

The FTS program is a student assistance arrangement whereby qualified students will only pay 40 percent of the total enrollment cost and enjoy varying levels of subsidies up to 60 percent to cover tuition and other school fees depending on their financial needs and their capacity to pay.

The combined family income of the applying student must not exceed P150,000 per annum and a certification or proof of this must be presented.

Amable Aguiluz IX, president of AMA Foundation, Inc., said, "this joint project of the AMA Foundation aims to provide financial assistance to academically qualified Filipino students for them to acquire world-class education at AMA. We want to give quality educational opportunity for the Filipino youth today."

"We hope to see more students earning internationally recognized certificates and diplomas from AMA campuses through the implementation of tuition fee subsidized programs like this," he added.

Along with AMA Foundation council of advisers, Dr. Angel Alcala, Dr. Onofre Corpuz, Victor Macalincag, and Leticia Ramos-Shahani, Aguiluz stressed that the initial 10,000 beneficiaries of the program will help alleviate the plight of parents in the schooling expenses of their children.

An interested student must pass the qualifying entrance exam, socio-economic status investigation, and other strict selection standards of the program.

Interested students must submit all required forms and documents, as follows:

1. Fully accomplished application for financial aid

2. Initial subsidy processing fee (P500)

3. Identification photographs of parents/legal guardians of applicant

4. Identification photographs of applicant

5. Original copy of parentís certificate of employment

6. Photocopy of income tax return (ITR)

7. Barangay certification

8. High school report card (for freshmen)

9. Transcript of records (for transferees)
