ANNA FEGI'S STAR KEEPS RISING
Quezon City, Feb. 22, 2001 - If rising singer Anna Fegi proves to be successful in her dreams of making it big, it will most certainly be due to patience, hard work, discipline, constant prayers, and a firm belief in her own abilities. Now on her third year as a professional, Anna is currently winning accolades from the audiences of “Rent,” the musical, in Singapore with her interpretation of “the funniest ever Maureen.”
The release of her debut album with BMG Pilipinas is awaiting her return to Manila after a month’s stay in Singapore. Hardly would she have set foot on Philippine soil that she will do the rounds of radio stations, malls, and record bars to promote her selftitled album.
But what would have to claim her immediate attention would be the show “Intimate: Anna and Toti” at the Dueling Pianos, Country Waffles, Annapolis in Greenhills on March 15, 9 p.m.
Presented by SNACK Arts, Country Waffles, and Joey @ 92.3 for the benefit of the CM Gil Scholarship Foundation, “Intimate” is a backtoback show with Toti Fuentes, premiere Filipino piano genius whom Anna considers one of her mentors. Toti spent years in the United States playing with great vocalists like Tony Orlando, La Toya Jackson, Jerry Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Kevyn Lettau, Sergio Mendes and Brazil ’88, Whitney Houston, Engelbert Humperdinck, Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bolton, Luther Vandross, Bill Crosby, Denise Williams, Jose Feliciano, Rosemary Clooney, The Lettermen, Rita Moreno, etc. The list is awesome.
Three years ago Toti returned to the country of his birth because he missed the good old Filipino way of life. Here, Toti has played with the biggest and the best of Filipino talents, his latest with current toast of the town Leo Valdez, and with visiting artists Julia Fordham, Peabo Bryson among others.
Anna, prior to her “Rent” stint has been busy with television appearances, and making her presence felt in corporate shows. Last year she won the People’s Choice Award as interpreter of the ABSCBN Himig competition, did lounge tours for Joey@92.3 and Dockers, fronted for the Westlife Manila concert at FAT, did a show “A is for..” at the Alegria with Ariel Rivera and Arnel Ignacio, joined Ivy Violan and Jinky Llamanzares at the Mandarin Captain’s Bar, portrayed Pontius Pilate in the musical “Jesus Christ, Superstar.”
Anna’s partnering with Toti is just one of many shows they have done together. Toti introduced Ann two years ago to Manila audiences through the series “Anna in August.”
